Wallrat Posted May 21, 2005 Report Posted May 21, 2005 I just bought a boat, nothing fancy but it'll get the job done. Now I need to get a wakeboard but I dunno much about em. Here's the thing tho, I've been kiteboarding for about 4 years now and have done a little wakeboarding as well. I'd classify myself as a strong intermediate kiter and a barely intermediate wakeboarder. I can get some pretty good pop but I'm not throwing mobes just yet. For my weight I know I'm gonna need something in the 140-ish range. Given all that, what can you guys recommend? I don't even know the different brands except liquid force, which makes mediocre (at best) kiting gear. I'm not trying to get the best board out there, and I'd like to spend somewhere around $300 with bindings. Quote
loganskinner Posted May 21, 2005 Report Posted May 21, 2005 i need the same info. im more of a beginner, i can stand up and go with it, but still really shaky. whats a decent wakeboard to get? Quote
pimp559 Posted May 21, 2005 Report Posted May 21, 2005 CWB is top of the line and you can get last years model on ebay for $225 shipped. http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewI...7156961866&rd=1 This board rocks. It has a center spine that makes big landings out in the flats like butter. It will save your knees. If you got this board, you can get bindings for around $100 on ebay also. Our local board shop rents demo boards that put the rental towards the price of a purchase on a new board. This is a good idea(if your sporting good store does it) because you can try out several different boards before you buy to make sure you get a board that works best for you. I don't think you could go wrong with the above CWB. We just installed our Monster tower and can't wait to try it out. Wakeboarder.com is a great site that has classifieds also. Check it out. Let us know what you buy. Quote
sheerdr Posted May 21, 2005 Report Posted May 21, 2005 I've always been a fan of hyperlite wakeboards. I'm pretty short so I have a shaun murray 137. It's kind of an old board but sweet for spinning. Quote
racer Posted May 21, 2005 Report Posted May 21, 2005 ive ridden a few, and i liked two really well. one was a liquid force trip, the other was a blindside somethin or other? but i like the trip its real stable and has decent pop. i think a few other people like it too cause it was the best selling wakeboard for a while. yamahanut98 Posted May 22, 2005 Report Posted May 22, 2005 i only ride hyperlite and liquid force tried cwb and blindside but cant stand thier rockers in their boards, hyperlite and lf almost always put a continuous rocker on their boards and this makes for a setup tat posp great and is always predictable right now i am on a trip series but am switchign to the new byerly Quote

Definetly give a ride report when you can. I detailed the interior on my boat yesterday and I'm getting ready to go out and do the exterior right now. I'll post pics of the new tower later when I get' er done. Quote
chris642 Posted May 23, 2005 Report Posted May 23, 2005 first time i went wakeboarding i fell flat on my face trying to get up, thats the last time i tried. I got real good at snowboarding so i think things might go a little smoother next time.... Quote
pimp559 Posted May 24, 2005 Report Posted May 24, 2005 Here she is. My wife and I named her "SunnyDaze". We installed the Monster Tower ourselves. Hopefully I'll have time to try it out this weekend. We're going into town today to have some custom straps made for the bimini top that fits on the tower. The tower looks a little bare right now. Board racks and speakers are the next to do. I'll post some action shots when I get some. Quote
watkins Posted May 27, 2005 Report Posted May 27, 2005 Try and find and old school Mutiny Board... those where the shit. Good friend of mine started the company before they shutdown back in '99. Quote
