locogato11283 Posted May 15, 2005 Report Posted May 15, 2005 well i can't figure out why i don't have spark so i still haven't had a chance to even see if it will run with those pilots in there. i have tried calling dan many times wednesday thursday and friday and i haven't got anywhere with that. he hasn't called back or answered so i have no idea why the pilots are so big or why i have no spark now that i got my motor back. i have checked all the resistances and they all match up wth the clymer book so the only thing left is cdi box, but i don't know why it worked b4 i sent the motor out and now it wont work at all.... so hopefully i can get ahold of dan and ask him why the pilots are so large. thx for everyones help so far. 369606 eric, check your pm. i sent you a message back about this. i bet you fouled those plugs when you started it with the 78 mains in there and thats why you arent gettin spark. put a new plug in and check spark... wesw Posted May 15, 2005 Report Posted May 15, 2005 swap a good coil to your bike or a good cdi box to see if that helps Quote
minishee Posted May 16, 2005 Author Report Posted May 16, 2005 (edited) i kept messing around with all the wires and apparently something was loose but all the sudden i have spark. so i was very happy. i got it running and adjusted the idle and it doesn't seem to bog or anything when i rev it. i haven't adjusted teh air screws or anything but the pilot doesn't seem to be too large. i am going to keep trying to get ahold of dan and see what he says about it, but thx for all of the help, i'm sure i will need more when i can go out and do a plug chop. mini Edited May 17, 2005 by minishee Quote
catdriver Posted May 16, 2005 Report Posted May 16, 2005 what is your outside temp? 55 is too big for warm weather drop down to a 48 and try. 369491 It was 80+ degrees a couple of days ago and only about 70 today. We dropped back to the 48s and still running the 160 mains. Even moved the needle clip to the 2nd position from the top. Nothing seems to work. Think the mains are too big? We're even getting too much blue smoke out of it which I think means it's too rich, right? Checked the compression and it's 138 on both cylinders. Quote
eehsnab2 Posted May 17, 2005 Report Posted May 17, 2005 Dont want to get to personal but Dan just PMed be about my cub.... He had something come up (I'll let him explain) last week so dont be alarmed about him not getting back to you. I imagine that he'll getting back with evreryone soon. Quote
catdriver Posted May 17, 2005 Report Posted May 17, 2005 68mm Cub, 4mm stroker, cool heads, 35mm PWKs, vforce reeds, timimg plate set to 5 degrees Dan got back to me today about this setup and recommended: 42 or 45 pilots, 158 mains, clip in the middle of the needle, 2 turns out on the air mixture. He also said to never go more than 2 1/2 turns out on the air mix. Haven't tired it yet but will post the results if anyone is interested. Quote
