That "octangonal shaped thing" is the bearing locknut, and it has to be backed out (just like a Banshee). You can buy the tool for it,or I bought and welded two nuts together that fit inside it and backed it out with a wrench.

i hate that bearing, i had a 30mm hex head piece of billet that my buddy who works at Honda gave me to use cause that's what he uses and u just put a crestent wrench on it and it's suppose to work except when i dropped my frame off to get powder coated the guy PC 'd the bearing and it was stuck in there i heated it up with a torch and no dice i tried everything and nothing so i managed to get the bearing free to spin and didn't burn any of the rubber seal around the bearing so i just used it i was so pissed but oh well go luck!!!!!

its regular threads. mine have never been tight. i dont torque them to anything either. i just put them in snug and thats it. never had any problems with gettin then out either.

well i tried it again today, welded nut and bolt together put a socked on it, and a breaker bar about 2.5 ft long, and the weld started cracking. this is gonna be a SOB.
