revs with no power

for some reason my shee is revving fast but doesn't make any power. i mean it feels normal but then it never gets into the powerband never really opens up at wot. ( it doesn't bog at all)

 

so i figure i must be lean but i pull both plugs and they look great( tan cardboard color). it was jetted back when it was about 60 degrees and now its about 70. i haven't changed anything since it was jetted

 

i also tried running it with the choke on and that didn't help at all

 

i also cleaned my filters and it made no difference.

 

it seems to lead to the idea that i'm too rich, but the rev with no power is usually a sign of lean jetting, right?

 

it also idles kinda higher than normal

 

someone also told me that weak reeds can lead to this problem.

any ideas?

Have you checked for air leakes? Sounds lean to me

kinda sounds like your clutch is slipping, it's reving but not pulling hard, your plugs look good. i'd look into the clutch or clutch adjustment...

Not surre but, check your compression and make sure you didn't blow the motor. That happened to mine and the top end was all F'd up.

I AGREE... check that compression!!! when is the last time you rebuilt the top end?

I'd check the clutch adjustment first and work from there,from easiest fix to the hardest.

good compression, the motor isn't blown it still runs fine just no real kick in the ass at WOT

no mods at all . the bike sat for a couple of weeks then this happened so maybe its bad gas.

 

 

i don't think its a clutch thing because it doesn't feel like its slipping into nuetral

i'd check my carbs fo sho!!! then tear into the clutch .. but having it rev higher then norm doesnt seem like a clutch failure... do you run pump or race.. pump wouldnt go bad.. and i've let my 114 sit for 2 weeks and was still good... but def check those carbs for any clogg... take em all out and get you a lil sewing needle and poke em!the jets that is

Your clutch disks could be worn which would apply less "grabbing force"; i.e. it revs but doesn't pull hard. A clutch that is out of adjustment would give the exact symptom you are describing. I went through this with my banshee a couple months ago

yep after further inspection i think i have a clutch problem
