Lately it seems, that a lot of people contribute winning or losing a race based on who is the better rider. On the track this may be true, but, as far as i am concerned if all you are doing is drag racing then its all about the bike. Maybe i am just blessed but it seems pretty simple to me, that when you are dragging someone, hit the fuckin gas till you have smoked the other dude. I love it, people are bragging left and right, " I beat a cammed, ported, piped, stroked, on NOS, with my stocker, let me be the first to call out BULL SHIT. it doesnt count if he gives a 100 yd headstart. Say it how it is, lose some of your pride for a second and tell us the truth, in the end that will help us out more then " my balls are bigger then yours"

As the saying goes, "no replacement for displacement" and that is SO very true, I find it very tough to believe that a stock machine could beat a hopped up one, based soley off the rider.

Thats like saying I smoked that Modded Corvette with my Ford Festiva, but thats because I have a aggresive riding style. :rotflmao::yank:

Dragging has everything to do with the rider. Out at the dunes I beat a couple piped banshee/z400/dvx/450r's with my stock banshee. And there was a couple of other piped banshee's that would just walk my ass down the strip. Drag racing is 90% rider 10% bike.

i totally agree, at the strip this weekend if i didnt get a good launch or miss a gear, i would beat several bikes. race again and they get a better launch and they woulld win. now if your a great rider and get your bike setup. and the other racers is the same then its the bike.

I am not saying that a no talent pussy could beat someone just because he has a better quad, but when it is all said done, it comes down to who has a faster bike ( in my experience) I go to the dunes and drag a lot, and once and while I will switch quads with people that i am losing too, and see if i can beat them on there quad or visa versa. I can honostly say 110% that the person with the faster quad will win, but thats why i said " I may be blessed" and i just cant understand why people cant figure out how to ride a fucking quad, 1. release clutch 2. hold on. Thats all folks, its really that easy.

I build my bike to beat yours. Not train to beat yours.

your theory of being all the bike is far from the truth.i speak from experiance.i have got a 75 hp. shee but in the first time i dragged her against a piped banshee,i lost two out of tthree times.why because i couldnt get any traction on it.but the third time i hung my ass over the rear tires and hooked up to kill him by 10 bike lenghts.like the other guys said, missed shifts, rider error plays a big difference in dragging.look at top fuel dragsters, they all have there days of winning and losing because its 50% engine and 50% driver.end of story :bolt:

dude you have no idea what you are talking about. no replacement for displacement? how about the 350 over on PS thats running faster times than the big 10mm + motors? whats your theory there? plain and simple. setup and rider is the reason for that. so what you are basically saying is that you give any average joe a 100+ hp bike and they can walk on everyone no matter what?? haha get real man. knowing how to get off the line and shift will play the most important part of the race. you can take a 70 hp 350 bike and put a good rider on it and hell beat a shitty rider on a 100+ hp bike all day long. just cuz you have all that power doesnt mean you know how to use it. gearing and tires play a huge part as well. i guess if youre such a badass rider you should hit all the big name builders up and let them know how to ride. hell maybe they will let you just ride their bikes for them since you are the only person around that knows how to "dump the clutch and hold on".

No shit loco, this clown almost scared me from ever racing again. I wish it was as easy as he says, I would win a national #1 plate every year.

the rider is a huge part of racing. If you as a rider hit everything perfect, you may win against a bike you typically would not. In my experience with my friends, if I am smoking them on my bike, typically, I will smoke them on there bike. We have all had days where we are just off and we have all had those days where everything is clicking an you just can not be beat.

Now, if you have a better bike, it may allow you to make a small mistake and still win. i would agree with that. For example racing a 400ex. If I get a bad start typically I am going to smoke the guy anyway. Now if I get a get start, then miss a gear and then have to let off cause I am to aggressive on the throttle trying to catch up, I may loose (once) to that 400ex.

I would say it is around 80% rider, 20% quad at the dunes drag racing, any other type of racing, enduro, mx, woods, sx etc I would put that ratio at 90% 10% machine.

I agree with this. dragging uses alittle more quad than rider compared to MX or XC. the rider is still deffinately very important, but you can give yourself alittle more room with a better bike

but isnt xc just drag with truns? :P

winning is a TON rider. i can ride my bike and lose to a guy, then swap to his bike and he still beats me.
