SouperSport Posted April 4, 2005 Report Posted April 4, 2005 Right now my Banshee is Completely STOCK!! I do mostly Desert/Trail riding with some occasional Dunes/hill climbs (but not neccesarily drags). Even on trails I like "sliding" around the corners so I keep the RPM's in the mid to upper range... Then almost WFO whenever possible. Will probably add dual filters (unless kit comes with filter) I may add a Dyna Ignition and tires, but that's gonna be it at this point! Oh and I have STOCK porting as well.... I WILL eventually port and go from "mild to WILD" (cheetah) but I have to work with what I got now. I'll need something forestry and sound legal as I'll be hitting the OHVRA's regularly and wanna keep the rangers off my tail! With that Said, what do you recommend? Quote
locogato11283 Posted April 4, 2005 Report Posted April 4, 2005 i would recommend getting some ROCKETS. i have heard they perform excellent on a stock bike and i know for a fact they perform very very well on highly modified ones. on my 4mm motor they came on faster and pulled harder and longer than cpi. you cant really compare cpi and rockets with the other 2. sounds to me you like WFO i would go with something with some major top end. i think rockets will make you happy. Banshee~ Posted April 8, 2005 Report Posted April 8, 2005 I love my sst's, but theres no doubt in my mind that I would have got rockets if I dident have to clip my finders. Quote
mxbanshee Posted April 8, 2005 Report Posted April 8, 2005 No kidding, Trinity are by far the best. They put so much testing and engineering into there pipes it is not even funny. Just remember that any company can just come along and make some pipes out of metal, it does not mean that they have been designed, tested and engineered to the fullest extent. Come on... that's expensive. You know, trial and error kind of stuff to match a certain engine. Trinity puts in this time and money. -They are stainless so they never rust -Most horsepower gain throughout the powerband -Use high heat O-rings at the cylinder and along the pipe -Not chromed so you get heat marks close to the engine (looks mean) -No chrome to peel off -AMAZING crisp clean sound By far the best pipe! KoooPSD Posted April 8, 2005 Report Posted April 8, 2005 On this site i think asking what pipe pulls the hardest for top end is stupid......90% of the people will say Rockets......and from what i heard, thats what i'd be getting if i had the dough.. Quote
SouperSport Posted April 8, 2005 Author Report Posted April 8, 2005 What about sound levels though. 351133 OK THIS IS A BIG DEAL.... CPI's and Rockets... do I have to get an ugly set of "sparky" spark arrestors, or different silencers to meet sound and forestry regs?!? And am I going to lose power adding stuff to meet these regs that I might as well buy a different set that does meet them?!? Performance IS cool and all, but not if I'm getting a ticket every other trip... nobody has even addressed that issue yet!! I live in California for god sake!! The liberal capital of the world!!! Damn sound regs, fire regs, EPA regs on OHV's.... (we won't even go into Gun regs!) This state has regulations for everything... damn! So unfortunately I have to make sure my pipes meet them! What can I do?!? Any suggestions with pipe reccomendations.... (please) Let's just say money isn't the issue... Cause I haven't seen a set of pipes yet that tops $1000.... and I have about $2K i'm putting into it!! Quote
fixitrod Posted April 8, 2005 Report Posted April 8, 2005 (edited) I think the quietest aftermarket pipe you'll find is the toomey t5 with the hush kit. Edited April 8, 2005 by fixitrod Quote
89Steeda Posted April 8, 2005 Report Posted April 8, 2005 See if cascade will make you silencers to fit the CPI's or Shearers. Quote
Proquad101 Posted April 8, 2005 Report Posted April 8, 2005 I think the quietest aftermarket pipe you'll find is the toomey t5 with the hush kit. 351800 I like the toomey pipes my self, they are great pipe for a stock motor or even a motor with some mods done, I dont know anything about what regs you guys have set on sound levels but I didnt think the toomeys were real loud and they do sell the hush kit. If you dont plan on going all out with your motor I would get the toomeys but if you plan on building a big motor I would go with one of the in-frame drag pipes I use the cpi but I was shown some dyno runs from other pipes that pulled more hp and torque. The only thing with the drag pipes is loud. I dont know if this will help any but you got my $0.02 anyway. Quote
SouperSport Posted April 9, 2005 Author Report Posted April 9, 2005 Apparently ONLY CA registered MOTORCYCLES are REQUIRED to have a U.S. Forest Service approved spark arrester! Didn't find anything on ATVs having one... Cool beans!! BUT... CA sound Regs... (1) Noise emissions of competition off-highway vehicles manufactured on or after January 1, 1998, shall be limited to not more than 96 dbA, and if manufactured prior to January 1, 1998, to not more than 101 dbA, when measured from a distance of 20 inches using test procedures established by the Society of Automotive Engineers under Standard J-1287, as applicable. Noise emissions of all other off-highway vehicles shall be limited to not more than 96 dbA if manufactured on or after January 1, 1986, and not more than 101 dbA if manufactured prior to January 1, 1986, when measured from a distance of 20 inches using test procedures established by the Society of Automotive Engineers under Standard J-1287, as applicable. 89Steeda Posted April 9, 2005 Report Posted April 9, 2005 I wish Oregon would follow California's lead. Never, ever thought I would ever say that. Quote
