No you don't, I just bent up a coathanger and yank 'em off with that (just a long "U" shape, catch the spring hook at the end of the U and pull it off, works great).

coathangers work great..., but so do the spring pullers....I have used both, but I always try to use the right tool for the job. Just a thought. D

Ben that worked out good for taking them off and putting them on....Im probley going to buy one the next time I need to take them off because the needlenose scratch up the hanger and I sliced my finger on the hanger :cry: .Thanks alot :clap:

A flathead screwdriver is all I need..that and 5 min of my life. Presto all 4 springs changed and ready to roll. :cheers: Time fer a beer or two..or three..or Hic..shit ready to ride now!

You can cut a slit in the side of a flathead screwdriver at an upward angle. Voila, a spring puller.

 

I use a phillips screwdriver to put them on and take them off. The spring doesn't have anything to catch on while sliding to the hole on the pipe.

i bought one after years of the screwdriver method and was pissed that i didn't buy one sooner because it was soooooo much easier to take them off and put the on 30 seconds tops for all 4. i only payed 5 buck though. highly recomend

Fixitrod has it. Take a dremmel w/ cut off wheel, steel an old junky flat head screwdriver out of your dads tool/junk drawer, and put a slit in it to make a hook.
