Thanks for all your help guys i know ive been makeing alot of threads and asking alot of questions but you guys really know your shit! Quote
brock_fuzzy_69 Posted March 23, 2005 Report Posted March 23, 2005 i suppose most guys will say have the head milled off a bit for more compression and most definately replace that stock air filter setup the stock air cleaner sucks in the biggest of ways other than that you may eventualy want aftermarket pipes bump up the ignition timing new tires as the stock ones suck mostly stuff can be done without spending a fortune Quote
banshdog Posted March 23, 2005 Report Posted March 23, 2005 New air filter, Mod airbox lid, or remove it. New reed petals, Dont forget to rejet. Advance timing +4. Tear off the TORS. If you dont use it... remove parking brake too. What not to do ---> Boost bottle, reed spacers. these are cheap, but unecessary mods Quote
Ducman Posted March 23, 2005 Report Posted March 23, 2005 Definitely get a couple hours on it so its good and broke in before doing any performance mods. Start mixing fuel at 32:1 with Yama 2R or apropriate ratio on other oil (typicaly 40:1). Get an airfilter W/ adapter plate, then remove the airbox lid, or just the snorkel. Removing the lid or snorkel will require slightly larger mains, about #230 or 240 for removing the lid (200-240 mains comes with a new banshee). Then aventually get some pipes and rejet again. Next do a cool head or milled stock head, ignition advance, lightened flywheel. Read the jetting FAQ (click here) because mods effecting air flow on the intake, exhaust and timing or temp. an elevation changes require jetting changes for optimum performance and so you don't get too lean and cook your top end. This will tell you everything you need to do it yourself. If you can find someody that will help the first time you will learn faster and not make mistakes. Quote
richybanshee Posted March 23, 2005 Report Posted March 23, 2005 (edited) First of all, just ride that sucker for a few hours. Then go for pipes and a filter system. Forget about the intake or any other mod for know. Just in case I made a list of future mods. 1. Toomey 2:1 high flow system with uni filter with outware $50 2. Water Bottle Relocator W/S Plug Holder, Banshee $20 3. timing plate (between $35-$100 depending on brand and material made) or degree key +4 (like $10) 4. Defenetly a set of pipes (like Rockets, CPI, Toomey T5's) (aprox. $450) 5. Mild head or Cool head with 21cc domes ($250) 6. VForce Delta 2 reed cage ($230) Aprox. Total $1,200 I recommend modifications in this order: 1. Air filter system (you have various choices and depending on what you choose you may need a coolant bottle relocator braket) 2. Set of pipes 3. Advance timming (timming plate or degree key not both) 4. Cool head or shaved stock 5. VForce 2 reed cage Later on: 1. Porting 2. bigger carbs 3. and so on..... locogato11283 Posted March 23, 2005 Report Posted March 23, 2005 i would use some sort of k and n filter setup. as for pipes, rockets will be sweet on your bike. i would go for a noss head with prolly 20 or 21cc domes to increase the compression some. there is so much u can do just depends on how much u wanna spend. here is the thing, try to plan ahead. dont go spending a ton of money now on something that in 3 months wont make you happy.
