scotts96fast Posted March 1, 2005 Report Posted March 1, 2005 I'm going to buy a-arms and shocks front and rear, arms will be +2+1.I'm not sure what brand yet.Anyone regret buying the buget arms and shocks? Is it worth the money for adjustable arms? Also shocks....any regrets not buying triple rate or with rezzy's and so on.What kit will give the best preformance such as traction and most travel over stock? Thanks guys...... Quote
stu Posted March 1, 2005 Report Posted March 1, 2005 im pretty sure you couldnt go wrong with quicksand +2+1 arms with dual rate works shocks with ressies a good combo and not too much $$ compred to other makes. although PEP and axis suspension is the boll*x!!! from what ive heard stu Quote

Banshee17Racing Posted March 1, 2005 Report Posted March 1, 2005 Quicksand +2+1 a- arms and a -2 swinger w/TCS Zero preload duals w/rezzies front and back . I love 'em. I had works triple rate with the stock a-arms and even though they were a helluva a lot better than stock...they don't compare to the TCS. The only regret I have now is that I tried to go cheap w/Works when I should have just done it right the first time. Quote
PUSH THE THROTTLE Posted March 1, 2005 Report Posted March 1, 2005 (edited) Definately get the Quicksands you won't regret it. As for shocks I was advised to go with dual rate fronts for more wheel travel and typically as far as shocks go you get what you pay for. I like my Elkas Edited March 1, 2005 by PUSH THE THROTTLE Quote
RNBRAD Posted March 1, 2005 Report Posted March 1, 2005 I second the quicksands for the price. As for shocks, really depends on the riding you do. IMO you can't beat works shocks for dune riding. They are just plain smoother and softer than the other big names. Though I've been real curious about the dune edition elka's cause these are designed specifically for dunes and I hear they won't beat you to death like the others. Though I feel the works plushness is their downfall for mx use and others are better for doing mx style riding where a stiffer suspension is needed. Quote
racer Posted March 1, 2005 Report Posted March 1, 2005 wow, brad. you just brought up an interesting point that has never occured to me. good thinkin. Quote
locogato11283 Posted March 1, 2005 Report Posted March 1, 2005 quicksand +1/+1 and elka fully adjustable dual rate piggybacks...rides like a caddy.. Quote
BenBB Posted March 1, 2005 Report Posted March 1, 2005 Ricky Stator +2 a-arms (not caster adjustable) and Works triple rates: No complaints, money well spent I think. This year I'll either add rezzys when I get the fronts rebuilt (and have Works do a heart transplant on the stock rear, which BTW is an Ohlins and a good shock), or upgrade to Works Black Widows. A-arms have been perfect, chances are if they get destroyed I'll get another set of Ricky's. Quote

ledofthezep Posted March 1, 2005 Report Posted March 1, 2005 Old School LS +2+1 arms & works tripples with rezzies. They're alright, no complaints really...works aren't that bad for the price if you get them setup for your weight & riding style. For the average weekend warrior, they're without a doubt a major improvement over stock. One of these days I would like to upgrade to some Quicksand arms & a higher quality shock...dunno for sure which yet. Quote
scotts96fast Posted March 1, 2005 Author Report Posted March 1, 2005 How can I get a hold of Gary from quicksand? I've always been a little shunned from works shocks, like one said you get what you pay for.I will be getting elka's i think.i didn't know about axis and pep.I'll check them out thou.shocks will be with rezzies dual or triple rate. I will be trail riding with the shee.I'm still not sure if I should get the adjustable A-arms????could some of you guys shed some light on this. What' the gain for trail riding? Quote
ledofthezep Posted March 1, 2005 Report Posted March 1, 2005 QuickSand Website Also, may look into TCS...I believe I've heard they're a bit cheaper, but perform awesome--never heard one complaint about them myself. I'm running the works because I didn't pay for them necessarily, got them off a shee I traded a bike for. Since the guy who owned the shee prior to me getting it was around 250 & raced MX, they've been good for my 180lbs ass. Keep us posted, I want to see some pics! Quote
