I just got bought me a 2001 banshee but I'm having a few problems with the jetting. Its bored .30 over, wisco pro lite pistons, stock head milled, I think the owner said its been ported and polished but I'm not for sure, bill's pipes, and a pro design air filter (lid still on). When I brought it home and rode it on the road, it would rev fine but it wouldn't idle. Right after the power band would hit and at full throttle, it would loose power and pop and back fire (and sometimes a flame would shoot out the right pipe :bolt: ) when I would shift to the next gear.

The next day I tweaked the carbs a little. It had a 50:1 ratio mix (old gas) allready in the tank, so I drained the tank and put fresh fuel (32:1 this time just to be safe). I played with the air screw a little and adjusted the idle screw on top of the tors thing on top of the carbs. The owner said that he removed the tors thing and the parking brake, but it still has those things on the carbs  . So I went back out and rode it again but it still poped and back farted at WOT.

So I take it back into my shop and pull the carbs for the first time to check the jets. The owner said that he rejetted for all the mods and stuff, but it still has the stock jets in it! It has 200 mains and 22.5 pilots :shootself: This thing is so lean, its a wonder it didn't burn the rings off when i test rode it banghead . I'm ording some jets from bike bandit but I dont know what kind and what sizes I need. They have several different kinds of mikuni pilot and main jets but I don't know which one's to get

I forgot to add that the timing has been advanced with a degree key (I think thats what the owner said?) And when I put the carbs back on the bike and started it, it ran a little bit different. It wouldn't hardly idle as good and when i would idle it for a coupe seconds and rev it, a flame or two would spit out, it didn't do that before?

You try pulling your choke out when you are riding???

You definatley need Jets...I would start with 320-340 with your listed mods....Depends on your elevation a lil bit as well..

Read the Jetting thread in the FAQ..It is a HUGE aid in schooling yourself in jetting.

About the pilot jets, I looked at bike bandit and there are about 3 different pilot jets, but none of them look the same as the ones I got. Are they not the right ones? I'm thinking I need a 27.5 or 30, but I don't know for sure.
