I've always been curious as to the aluminum compared to the poly plastic units. I'm afraid energy may transfer through the aluminum unit where the poly unit would absorb the impact better. Anyone have any thought or idea's on this, or even thought about it? :shrugani:

Possible, but my understanding was that the case saver is supposed to keep the chain from

I got mine from a guy on here, went by the name of 'csaver' I believe. It's the poly type too. It was under $25 shipped I know that...no problems and/or complaints either. Haven't seen or heard of the guy in some time though. :shrugani:

how much trouble has anyone actually had with the chain breaking? if your chain is maintained and not excesively tight, it shouldn't snap, right? i suppose getting some amazing air and really slamming the landing might do it. if it's just worn out that bad, well, i don't let mine get worn out that bad. i understand that $20 or so compared to a cracked case is well worth it. but how often has it happened?? i'm just curious because i've never had a chain snap on anything in about 18 years of riding.

The only chains that have snapped on me in the past have been aftermarket chains with a clip type master link. The place that broke was the master link, I guess it has to do with the clip thing. If you have a D.I.D chain look at the instructions, it says "D.I.D. strongly recommends you to use a rivet type master link even when the clip type is available." Rrivet type is the endless chain, like a stock chain.

If it's the same guy I got mine from his name is c_rossman (Chris Rossman, the same guy in the ebay link that 1800bigk posted) I bought mine from him through ebay for like 20 bucks. I'm running a 15 tooth right now and it required no modifications. :headbang:  Great service and product!

That would be affirmative. I highly recommend the guy as well. :)
