layshea Posted February 17, 2005 Report Posted February 17, 2005 I recently bought a banshee off the internet. I bought it not running. It has all the essentials. I cleaned out the carb. It has a new top end, and good compression. If I take out the plugs and put a few drops of gas in there it fires and dies. Any ideas on what to look for, or any more specific details? Quote
fromygod Posted February 17, 2005 Report Posted February 17, 2005 sounds like a fuel issue to me. u said u got good compression and with some extra gas it does fire.. so theres spark and compression, 2/3 of the process.Check the plugs, should be a chocolately color. are there any mods done? ill bet its the jetting if there is. 2 stokes are finicky little bitches, a seemingly insignifigant change in temp altitude even humidity will make it "not right".u might have inherited someone elses problem.try to get in contact with the seller, ask what he did or tried, no sense in going down the same road he did. for the cheap cost of jets u might wanna play with that first .try going up a size or 2. 05bansh Posted February 17, 2005 Report Posted February 17, 2005 It does sound like a gas problem. Did it have gas in it when you bought it? Were the carbs dirty when you cleaned them? Did you check the main fuel line? Make sure you clean the hell out of the carbs> take the main and pilot jets out, go to town with the carb cleaner! Make sure it has fresh gas and the lines arent gummed up. Mabye throw in some new plugs too. Quote
01bansheefox Posted February 17, 2005 Report Posted February 17, 2005 Make sure all the tubes are connected to the shee, mine wouldnt run one time because of the Choke Tube. Quote
bigboybanshee Posted February 17, 2005 Report Posted February 17, 2005 Also if the reeds are either worn out or broken it will be REALLY hard to get started. I'd pull the carbs off and shine a flashlight into your intake boots and check em out. Quote

. Posted February 18, 2005 Report Posted February 18, 2005 check to make sure their is gas coming out of the gas tank as well....there's a filter in the valve that can get clogged as well. Quote
sp1tekiller Posted February 18, 2005 Report Posted February 18, 2005 Make sure there's enough gas so that it will run without being on reserve. That just happened to me and I went crazy trying to get it running. Quote
sheefreak Posted February 18, 2005 Report Posted February 18, 2005 Glad to hear that was all that was wrong Sp1, I hate when that happens. Quote
