superchicken Posted February 14, 2005 Report Posted February 14, 2005 you should be around a 270ish main.go down on clip on the needle. Quote
banshee76179 Posted February 14, 2005 Report Posted February 14, 2005 yeppers 270 to 290 range better to be rich and work ur way down.. Quote
DuneRoller Posted February 14, 2005 Report Posted February 14, 2005 Yeah my setup is pretty close to yours, location being the biggest difference, and I run a 300 main stock needle postion. Quote
Bansheerider29x Posted February 14, 2005 Report Posted February 14, 2005 Try the 270 mians with the needle in the middle postion. Then work from there. Quote
richybanshee Posted February 14, 2005 Report Posted February 14, 2005 (edited) Take air box lid off: Go with 280-300 mains leave everything else stock, Except on the air screws, they should be like 1 1/2 turns from seated. The colder the temps, the bigger you may need to go on the mains. Note: hold the airfilter assembly with a screw. Do not want to take off the arbox lid then: Go with 260 mains... air screws 2 1/4 turns out from seated. Edited February 16, 2005 by richybanshee Quote
23champ Posted February 14, 2005 Report Posted February 14, 2005 When I ran stock carbs and Fattys, I couldn't seem to get the needle rich enough, even with the clip all the way down. I bought the Dyno Jet jet kit. The bike ran awsome after that, It was jetted perfect all the way through. I would highly recomend going with the Dyno Jets. The kit comes with two or three different mains, and different needles. Quote
beatmiester Posted February 14, 2005 Author Report Posted February 14, 2005 That was my next question should i buy a jet kit? from who and what kind? Quote
richybanshee Posted February 15, 2005 Report Posted February 15, 2005 (edited) I did use Alba jet needles, they work and cost like $15 + shipping. Vito's needles are another alternative. If you allready have a lot of main jets and pilot jets, just by the jet needle. The needle is longer and thiner than stock. Edited February 15, 2005 by richybanshee Quote
2004LEBanshee Posted February 16, 2005 Report Posted February 16, 2005 I dunno about 280 I have same mods but with a cut lid and at 1,000ft. I run 330 and 4th notch on the needle. I would think that anything below 300 in conn at this time of year would be lean. But the only way to tell is a plug chop. Leave the guessing to weight guessers at the fair. JMO Quote
Banchetta Posted February 24, 2005 Report Posted February 24, 2005 270 mains, needle 4th clip from the blunt end, stock pilot, adjust air screws to throttle response. If you want a little more, then cut the last 1.5" off the end of the lid right behind the clips...that'll give you another 2-4hp.. Quote
