chris642 Posted February 4, 2005 Report Posted February 4, 2005 hey, im wondering if flipping the front tires is going to give me some extra width up front? the rims are stock, maybe i will pick up some front and rear wheel spacers too. do you think these mods will make a noticable diffrence. just looking for a cheap solution to getting extended ams for now untill i have enough cash for the arms and shocks. 1800bigk Posted February 4, 2005 Report Posted February 4, 2005 (edited) the valve stems will hit the brakes.....i think Edited February 4, 2005 by 1800bigk Quote
Bansheerider29x Posted February 4, 2005 Report Posted February 4, 2005 Flipping the front rims around will give u aroud a total of 3 inches wider(it looks so much better too). I think it is the best thing ever. I bought a whole wheel set with special valve stems so u can flip them around without the vavle stem hitting the brake caliper. I dont know where to get them but i suggest u do to save money and add better handling. The one bad thing is you cant add or take air out of the tires unless u take off the whole wheel. Quote
PhillipSpearman Posted February 4, 2005 Report Posted February 4, 2005 I did it on my 87. The way that I did it was pretty easy and didnt cost much. I could not find a short enough valve stem so I drilled a hole on the inside of the rim opposite the existing valve stem. Them I placed a new valve stem in the new hole and removed the old one and replaced it so that the stem was actually on the inside of the tire. I did not ever have a problem with vibration or anything just make sure that the stems are about the same wait. Quote
Bansheerider29x Posted February 4, 2005 Report Posted February 4, 2005 Thats alittle to much work just try and find those flat plate vavle stems that come with a special tool so u can add air i will try and find it for u but i think i wont be able to find it Quote
Nighty Posted February 4, 2005 Report Posted February 4, 2005 I used a 90Degree valve This way it will go over the brake assembly. Dont know if you guys have those over there. Quote
MeanHoTRoD_93883 Posted February 5, 2005 Report Posted February 5, 2005 i Got rear wheel spacers from durablue they cost $90 and it handles better in the corners in which its more stable and its better thn buying a rear axle to makeyour banshee wider becuase the rer axle is pretty espensive so i reccomend the rear wheel spacers for the rear and if you need them get tem for the front they re also good Quote
PUSH THE THROTTLE Posted February 6, 2005 Report Posted February 6, 2005 I did it on my 87. The way that I did it was pretty easy and didnt cost much. And on the back just switch your rims left to the right and right to the left so your valve stems are on the inside you will widen your rear end for free no wheel spacers needed. Quote
Bansheerider29x Posted February 8, 2005 Report Posted February 8, 2005 I did that to my rears to extend them with my front. Quote
03440ex Posted February 8, 2005 Report Posted February 8, 2005 take the stock valve stem out and get a drill bit the same size as the hole i n the rim drill another hole in the other side of the rim now get 2 valve stems put thestem in the new hole and for the stock hole put the stem in backwards repeat for the other wheel yes this works i have done it several times works on yamahas and hondas dont know about other brands Quote
03440ex Posted February 8, 2005 Report Posted February 8, 2005 a few more things on banshees sumtimes the right hand outside tierod end will hit the a arm if its pushed to extremes the tierods can bend or break ur handling and ride will definetly change for the good gone is the kinda tippy feeling also id try to steer away from wheel spacers they put too many extra forces on the wheel bearings and the extra load on the wheels studs cant be healthy either Quote
GYTWYPT Posted February 8, 2005 Report Posted February 8, 2005 Hey we sell flush mount valve stems for this very mod on ebay. If they are not listed email Rob at [email protected] and he can hook you up with some i think a whole set is like 20 some odd dollars. Tell him Joe set you. he may even give you a better deal than our ebay listing. Later Quote
