1800bigk Posted February 1, 2005 Report Posted February 1, 2005 Can the engine be reinstalled with cylinders and head in place? I removed the jugs and head before removing engine, but I was wondering if I could reassemble the whole thing then slap it back in there. Quote
sheefreak Posted February 1, 2005 Report Posted February 1, 2005 Yes it can be done, is plenty of clearence. Quote
kenr74 Posted February 1, 2005 Report Posted February 1, 2005 I wouldn't call it plenty of clearance but it can be done. It is easier to put it in from the clutch side so you don't have to wiggle around the petcock. Quote
bigboybanshee Posted February 1, 2005 Report Posted February 1, 2005 ^^^^^^^^^^ What he said....I just did that a month ago Don't get discouraged if you're having trouble getting it in there, just have a friend help out because you're gonna be twisting and turning the engine to slide it in place. Once it's "in the frame" the rest is cake Quote
ledofthezep Posted February 1, 2005 Report Posted February 1, 2005 Also...if you repainted the frame or had it PC'd ...place some rags around the frame so you don't scratch it up when re-installing it. Quote
1800bigk Posted February 1, 2005 Author Report Posted February 1, 2005 (edited) good, I had a hell of a time trying to get the engine out with the head and cylinders on, but I was alone, so i just took them off. I want to put it all together this time so I can just bolt it up and go. Edited February 1, 2005 by 1800bigk Quote
locogato11283 Posted February 1, 2005 Report Posted February 1, 2005 do u have the gas tank out? if so its no problem. if not id just take it out real fast. Quote
1800bigk Posted February 1, 2005 Author Report Posted February 1, 2005 yeah gas tank is out now, it wasnt out when I took it all apart, but since then I have removed it. thanks Quote
limitied03 Posted February 1, 2005 Report Posted February 1, 2005 Yeah man with gas tank removed its a snap to put the engine back in....hell i did it by myself in about 15 minutes...with lots of cursing and a small maglight in my mouth....shop light was burned out..plus i was in a hurry Quote
FIRST BANSHEE Posted February 1, 2005 Report Posted February 1, 2005 that is actually the proper way to install the engine, nothing can fall into a assembled motor. Quote
bogart Posted February 1, 2005 Report Posted February 1, 2005 very easy to install i think.takes seconds to get it in the frame with the tank off.there is just certain angles to put it in but i done seem to have a problem at all Quote
. Posted February 2, 2005 Report Posted February 2, 2005 if you dont have sparkplugs in it's a lot easier as well, make sure the pegs are off, etc etc. Quote
