I bought new because I did not know at the time what to look for in a used one, but if I did it again I would buy a good used one with at least pipes and a few bolt ons. There is so many stock parts like pipes that are worthless and will not bring you any money to sell. If you get a modified used bike you can sell a lot of the parts if you don't like them.

Definately get a good used one especially here in Cali with the red sticker crap. I got an '01 slightly modded and it runs great all receipts included.

Amen, brother. If I had it to do over, I never would have bought new. They are so tough that if it hasn't been stomped on, there won't be anything expensive wrong. I feel like an idiot storing all the factory crap I have replaced with aftermarket, since it is all worthless. After 6k for her and about another 6k in goodies, I could have A LOT more bike if I had bought used. For god sake, buy a clean older one and put on new plastic in a modern color and YOU WILL have a new machine; they are essentially all the same. I beat mine up so bad in the tree shots it looks 10 years old, and it's an '03! -which is what I bought it for, but it seems like a shame in retrospect (sigh). Money wasted is soo depressing!

Definately buy a used one!! Search for a good one though. I spent 4 grand on mine and got a p.o.s. I was new to the 4 wheelin scene and didnt know what to look for. I bought it in 2002, it is a 2000, and it was trashed. I spent a ton of money to get it modded up the way i wanted it. I know someone that just bought a 2002 and had it shipped to his door for 2600. It is in pretty good shape, ridden, but in good shape.

thanks for all the info guys im actually considering buying a used one or building one frome the frame up how i want powdercoat and all like i did with my tecate.thinking of buying the yfz450 after watching sme videos.seems to handle really well so i think ill get a 450 for snow, trails,mx,etc.ill have that to play with while i build or tear down and rebuild a used banshee.dont worry guys no matter how good the 450 is i need a screaming two stroke for the pits i ride.but having another quad to ride in the meantime wont make me rush or halfass building the banshee.thinking either all polished chrome and all or sleeper.once again thanks guys
