I've been trying to get my Shee and myself ready for MX for a while now, but I've never even been to a race. I went to my first real track last Saturday. We paid $10 and rode all day. The track was huge and had everything from doubles, step-ups, berms, timing section, you name it! After 2 laps around that sucker I was exhausted at first. I got more used to it and could go several laps at a time after a while though. There was a 90ft step-up triple in the back of the track which a couple dirt bikes were hitting and one kid on a 400ex. After working up a little nerve me and my friends were doubling it. A few times I overshot it and landed at the beginning of the third jump. I got to thinking... one more gear and I should be able to triple that thing. I came around, clicked up into 5th (I think), and sure enough didn't make it. I'm sure if it would have been a regular triple I'd have made it, but with it being a step-up I fell short. I nailed the face of the third jump and bounced over it. After that I rolled off the track and took a breather. The landing knocked the breath out of me and hit the frame. After a couple minutes I was alright and I've been thinking... maybe in 6th... :D

Anyway, we didn't have an official race or anything but I did race a couple guys I usually ride with for a couple laps. Usually I'm doing good to keep up with them in the woods, but I was a different animal on the track. I passed them and was grinning from ear to ear. There's an arenacross race close by on Feb. 5 I'm thinking about entering. I know arenacross races are smaller and maybe not where a Banshee would excel but I'm pumped.

I just wanted to share my glee. Thanks for the attention! :)

I would say your not gonna do to bad in your race considering you almost made a 90 foot triple or step up or whatever you said but Im sure youll make it alright...you better represent that banshee and show them ex boys whats up

Usually when we go riding I'm the guy in the background who rides toward the back of the pack and doesn't say much. At the track I had a lot of people coming up to me introducing themselves. That felt good to get the respect. I was the only Banshee out there. There were mostly 400exs, 450rs and 250rs... it was a Honda day. The biggest thrill was having guys with tricked out 250rs asking me how to clear some of the jumps. One guy with a 400ex and a 250r who races frequently said he had to give me props, that I could really jump that Banshee. He said he used to own one and knows how hard they are to jump. I think I may have blushed. B)
