danyrm Posted January 5, 2005 Report Posted January 5, 2005 (edited) Hey Guys I just rebuilt my bottom and topend on my bike. I also had the head milled 25 thousandths. The bike starts up and runs like crap. It will not rev up what so ever. It just goes waaa waaa. But wont stall out. Its also smoking pretty bad. I cleaned the carbs. And made sure everthings tight. Do i need to rejet due to milling the head. except for the tors being removed and the head milled it is completly stock. Any help is appreciated. Edited January 5, 2005 by danyrm Quote
boonman Posted January 5, 2005 Report Posted January 5, 2005 Did you unplug and/or remove the TORS module? It is located adjacent to the ignition coil, under the fuel tank on the Stator side of the bike. It has a 3-wire conector on it. This NEEDS to be unplugged if you have a TORS removal kit on it. Quote
danyrm Posted January 5, 2005 Author Report Posted January 5, 2005 The tors was removed prior to the rebuild and me owning the bike. The previous owner unhokked the module unpluged the wire from the throtle and the two from each carb. Quote
superchicken Posted January 5, 2005 Report Posted January 5, 2005 choke tube in place?nothing left in the air box like a rag or anything? Quote
boonman Posted January 5, 2005 Report Posted January 5, 2005 Do you have the carb slides in backwards? The lower part of the slide has an angled "cutaway", and this needs to face the airbox. The slides will go in the opposite carb, and hence be backwards, and will exhibit the precise symptom you describe.... Quote

Any help is appreciated. who did the work and was the cases split, i just went threw the same thing. i replaced the seals in the bottom end put it back together, it started right up but smoked really bad. i went threw this 3 times the more gas i gave it the more it smoked, it looked like a crop duster. but it ended up being this stuff called three bond that i bought from a motorcycle shop in my area. it would dry nice as soon as the gas hit it, it would soften up. well good luck man, hope you get er runnin Edit: Fixed your quote up for ya.... boon Edited January 5, 2005 by boonman Quote
compose2 Posted January 5, 2005 Report Posted January 5, 2005 check your air filter. i had k&n filters that were plugged up and didn't feed enough air to the carbs. made it run on one cylinder, smoked really bad and would not rev out. just bogged horribly when i rapped the throttle. sounds pretty similar to your symptoms. maybe try revving it with the air filter off and see if it runs better. excesive smoking from the pipes is a sign that the engine is not getting enough air Quote
danyrm Posted January 5, 2005 Author Report Posted January 5, 2005 Hey guys thanks for the great responses. I've took off the airbox to see if that made a difference and none. The guy that did my rebuild is my brothers best freind and hes been working on 2 stroke motors for the better part of 10yrs. Hes outta town so i cant get ahold of em to give me a hand. The choke tube is in place. As soon as i get to the garage iam gonna check my slides and i hope thats it! I'll keep ya posted. Quote
danyrm Posted January 6, 2005 Author Report Posted January 6, 2005 Well i did have the slides in the right way. I can't think of anything else! Quote
Banchetta Posted January 7, 2005 Report Posted January 7, 2005 Parking brake switch??? try disconnecting that? you shouldn't have to rejet. I'd pull the exhaust pipes off and check for shop rags. I had my builder leave a shop rag in my exhaust, put it together and only ran on one cylinder, took me 2 hours to figure that one out. PUlled the exhaust and it was between my header and silencer.... danyrm Posted January 7, 2005 Author Report Posted January 7, 2005 It turns out it was the parking brake switch. I knew it was something stupid. Thanks guys now its time to brake it in. Quote
