i gotta tell ya man, i just got my shee and i am already putting a new crank , and new cylinder sleeve's in it. i love the way it rides but they seem to give ALOT of problems.

 

i am gonna put it back together and hope i don't get anymore problems out of it for a while. if i do i may get rid of it and get a 250r or something else

You must be doing something wrong. I never have problems with my banshee, and I ride the motherfucker hard. I dunno, just doesnt seem right that you should be having so many problems. :confused:

nah i don't really blame the bike. i just bought it and after running my 3rd tank of gas through it the engine locked up and i have replace everything in the motor and reslleve one cylinder, but as i tore it down i found that the previous owner had the engine put together with alot of missing parts and things installed incorrectly

 

so i don't blame the bike, i will put everything back as its supposed to be and i think i will keep the thing for a long time to come, i LOVE having a kick starter and the way the bike corners, runs, jumps, and i LOVE smoking all my friends with dirtbikes

 

so i still love the shee and can't wait to get it back together :cheers:

i got a yfz450 for racing. with the banshee the power is mostly there at mid to top end. the 450 being a 4 stroke has more torque and there is more power at the bottom end than the top, which i think, has made a huge difference to my riding style.

well like i said i sold mine but it is temp i will be gewtting another... cus there is nothing that gives you the feeling like a banshee does....i plan on getting another this next summer.. but i'm getting old and wanna get my wife a quad first... so we can have family rides...

I enjoy riding my wifes 450 but my banshee has that little extra something when your on the pipe WOT that gets my adrinoline pumping, puts a little fear in ya that makes you hang on tight, and most noteable gets me up the hill a hell of a lot faster

I've got a yfz 450 also and I'd prefer it for tight, technical trails. But in sand it just doesn't bring a smile to my face like the shee can - it aint the speed either cuz my yfz is faster than my shee.

Hell I may too have to be parting with my banshee, if I don't get this frigg'n house sold I'm gunna have to do something for some money before the end of the year. :shootself: But I've been thinking about taking up prostitution...could call it like "King's Cock by the Clock--Have Vaseline; will travel." :P When it comes down to it though, I dunno I'd have the nerve to actually sell the damn thing. :shootself:

It's amazing what little wrench time will do to a quad... I'm still running strong on a 2 year old topend... hadn't dropped 1psi :headbang: .

Before my engine blew up I had over 600 miles of riding on the top end. Still had 120psi on the right cylinder. During this rebuild I'm replacing alot of things that should have been replaced a long time ago by the previous owner. But I know that when I'm done the shee is basically gonna be more reliable than a Banshee rolled off the dealer lot.

I believe the problem with the Banshee reliability is really a problem with the owners (there are exceptions though...especially with second hand banshee owners). The more you "tweek" your ride the more care you have to take.

 

For instance:

I've heard of people changing the premix ratio rather than properly jetting it. Yamaha specs call for 24:1 premix. The more mods and more HP you add... the more critical it is for proper lubrication. You MAY....wouldn't recommend... but MAY get by on 30:1... and 40:1 is definately pushing it. Pro racers can handle 100:1 or no premix at all cause, they have the money to have their sponsors rebuild the engine every single race. You average Joe probably doesn't. Take care of Ur Banshee and it should last you a good long while. (granted... sometimes stuff brakes)But 9 times out of 10 its carelessness....

 

Me... I don't think I'd every buy a 4-poke! I've ridden many of them and if I had to, I'd build a new Banshee first. People wanna ride a 4-stroke... Let 'em. You like your Banshee...then keep it. Don't like fixing it...then stop riding it! Problem solved! And when I decide I need a "bigger ride" I'll just beef up my Banshee to 500 or 600cc. But that's just me!!

 

WHATEVER you RIDE just have fun! That's the point anyway right!... 'nough said... I'm outta here! :bolt:

Interesting opinion on the premix ratio.

I think I'll stay at 80:1 though properly jetted and haven't lost 1psi in nearly 60 gallons of fuel, ordering another case next week.
