sandslinger03 Posted November 9, 2004 Report Posted November 9, 2004 I am looking at picking up some new pipes and was wondering what the main differences between these two is. I ride mostly mx and opens trails and occasionally go to the dunes. Which pipe is going to be the better one for my riding style. Quote
RNBRAD Posted November 9, 2004 Report Posted November 9, 2004 The SST has a better power spread and a little more peak power but have heard it doesn't perform as well as the fatty's with mods like porting. Check the dyno comparison below. FMF dyno Quote

Doodle Posted November 9, 2004 Report Posted November 9, 2004 I just recently put on a set of SST's, but I haven't had a chance to really try them out yet. I'm hoping by this weekend I can give them a try. One thing I really do like about the SST is that the pipe and silencer connect close to the front of the airbox, so you don't have a bulky clamp exposed like with alot of the other pipes. Now I don't have to go out and buy the $50 billet clamps for them. I just used the stock clamps. It's kind of a bitch though to get them to connect. Once I take the bike out I'll let you guys know how it performs. Quote
r2n2d Posted November 12, 2004 Report Posted November 12, 2004 i have the sst and I feel they give me a better over all run than my friends fatties. He must think so too bc he wants me to sell him them. So i would go with the sst. Quote
Banchetta Posted November 14, 2004 Report Posted November 14, 2004 SST's have a broader powerband and a very nice throttle response. I'd go w/ them for overall. I'd go w/ the fatties if you think your going to do some extensive porting, etc... Quote
