It is my understanding that painting them is what they are used for, that way you can have a custom paint job just the way you want it. Rather than starting out with a base color, you've got a clear base to start from.

I agree they probably wouldn't stay nice and clear for long. I think in theory it's like an rc car body. You paint it from underneith and the paint comes out flat and shiny and won't scratch everytime you hit something or roll. It would have to be strange to have a custom paint job done, it would have to be done in the reverse order if I'm thinking right.

whoa. that would take some serious thinkage. the paint would look like ass if all you saw was primer. but if you put the primer on the backside of the paint it would do nothing at all to help in the paint adhering to the plastic itself. i wonder how they would do that. do you think they would use some sort of single stage paint or something?

Maybe we can get Walter to answer that for us.

i hope someone can answer it. that seems like quite a predicament.

I think you guys are worrying way too much. If you can paint the top, then you can paint the bottom. As far as that goes, it won't be any harder painting, just figure out what color and where, then paint.

no, when you paint the top it goes primer color clear. with the color showing. if you looked at it from underneath all you would see is primer, beacuse when looking from the bottom you would be seeing what is effectively on top and that would be primer. so unless the make a clear primer, i think you owuld have to paint the tops.

those plastics look badass clear, like said, fullbore is kickin around a few sets to. Spray the whole thing with primer, bottom and top, then paint the whole thing custom or a single color.

I think you may have missed the point. If you spray the bottom and top with primer and then paint from underneith all you would see is primer. If you use primer on only one side and spray from underneith all you will see is primer again.

I'm not really worrying about it, I was just curious. I was just wondering if anybody had done a pretty intricate(sp) paint job from the under side. I may be thinking wrong, but all the little finishing details would have to go on first and what would be the base color would actually have to be applied last. That would take some real skill and I would like to hear how hard it really is.
