i think i am running lean, although i havent had any thing happen to make me think that. but my friends are melting pistons and i don't want to join the group on this one.

here's what i have - - - stage one porting - - toomy T-6 pipes - - cool head 17 cc domes - - rad valves with duel stage reeds and a 1/2 inch spacer - - - air box off with 2 into 1 filter - - and a dyna fs ignition - - - - - - i have 280 mains and stock pilots - - let me know cause i think i could use at lease the 340 i have but would like some input before tearing it apart.... thanks again

Yeah, I'd think you could use more than a 280. When in doubt, go richer, and the only way to really "know" your machine is by listening, feeling and using your instincts.

If you think you could at least, use 340 mains, then by all means try it. It sounds like a reasonable place to start to me. If it fouls a plug, then back off to 330 and so on. It might run really good with that main in it, and be sure to read your plugs afterwards, by running a WOT plug test. Personally, I'd go to a 340 right now, before I rode again.

GET OFF THE BIKE!!!!! :D

I would not ride it again until you get bigger mains.

I have T5s, Toomey 2:1, Boyesen Carbon Fiber Reeds and I run 370 mains with 30 pilots.

I think you are very lean and you will soon be joining your friends if you don't rejet.

And I agree, with 17cc domes, you should be using at least 50/50 race/premium mixture.

damn, that sounds a little low. i agree with sredish. its better to foul some plugs then to burn up some shit. may a suggest a bigger pilot? 27.5 or 30? im running a 30 pilots and 340 mains and i have the mods listed in my signature. it runs like a champ. but all bikes are different.

Your friends could also be melting pistons if they are running regular fuel w/ small cc domes like you are...Do a compression test and if your over 160-165psi then I'd be running at least a 50/50 mix of race fuel and high octane fuel. If not, you'll put a hole through the piston. Next, I'd throw a set of larger mains in there and do a wot test. Run in 6th gear for 5-10 seconds wide open, pull the clutch in, coast to a stop. Pull the plugs and see what color they are. Black is rich, dark brown is perfect, tan and white are lean. Keep us updated on your findings.

dude youre gonna be joining your friends soon if you don't get bigger mains!!!!!!!

This is what I have:

Ported cylinders

1/2" reed spacers

Fmf fattys + pc2s

Planed head

pro design airbox and dual stage filter

Bored out .20 over with wiseco prolites

boot bottle :rotflmao:

sea level 60-70 degrees temp

I run 320 mains

27.5 pilot

needle clip 4th clip from top

air screw 2 turns out

My jetting is pretty good but I am going to try a 330 or a 340 soon. I still have a bit to go before I'm running rich.

Its easy to change mains!!! You dont even have to take the carbs off, just pull the slide out and take fuels lines off loosen the boots and rotate it so the bowl is facing you take the bowl off and voila put new jet in and reassemble.

i did think i should be useing either straight or mixed rase fuel, but what about an additive like maxima or some thing. i have heard some good things about it and it is supposed to prevent detination and stuff like that associated with over heating

<_<

17 cc domes, correct me if i'm wrong but thats about getting there compression wise where you have to run straight race fuel? I don't know if octane booster will work, Nos makes octane booster for race cars (you can get it wal-mart) but i think its a waste of money. Don't be cheap and just buy race fuel do it right.
