harley_sr Posted August 26, 2004 Report Posted August 26, 2004 I am looking for a good clutch, mine is slipping pretty bad right now. Whats the news on a good set up? Quote
23champ Posted August 26, 2004 Report Posted August 26, 2004 I've heard barnett steels, with heavy springs, and R1 fibers are the way to go! Or.... I hate to say it because most of the people on here hate Trinity, but they have a pretty good clutch kit also. My brother has a Trinity clutch in his quad with a Passion 4mill 12 port. He can bag the piss out of the clutch all day long, whether it be drag racing or dune ridding, and it doesn't seem to phase it at all. Quote
Mod Banshee Posted August 26, 2004 Report Posted August 26, 2004 I have the Team Alba Clutch kit with Hinson Clutch Basket and a Hinson Cushion and a Hinson Pressure Plate on my Shee. And I like this set up alot Quote
lonestar Posted August 26, 2004 Report Posted August 26, 2004 Trinity got the best clutch. I think Quote
23champ Posted August 26, 2004 Report Posted August 26, 2004 I have to agree, that set up would be sweet as hell. But thats about 800 bones you got wrapped up in it... I'm a poor bastard, I gotta go with the cheep shit. Quote
Mod Banshee Posted August 27, 2004 Report Posted August 27, 2004 Ok Then I would say if you dont want to spend that much then Tusk makes and real good clutch kit for $29.99 Quote
harley_sr Posted August 27, 2004 Author Report Posted August 27, 2004 I am open to different clutches, and different pricing. I am just trying to see whats the best clutch for the money is? Any one heard of the EBC? I dont care for barnette, but any other? I would love to get a hinson set up, but just dont have the cash to swing that way right now.. Quote
Mod Banshee Posted August 27, 2004 Report Posted August 27, 2004 Yes I Know My Clutch set up cost me $532.88 I have heard of EBC Clutch kits but I dont know any one with one so I cant help you out on that one. Quote
LeChicharon Posted August 27, 2004 Report Posted August 27, 2004 Barnette fibers and steels with three toomey springs and three stock ones. Got that idea from a&s or someone and its the best set up i used so far. Quote
ledofthezep Posted August 27, 2004 Report Posted August 27, 2004 I'm running a billet hinson basket with a barnett dirt digger clutch. It's only money... I've heard good things about tusk clutches, not to mention they're half the price as the other HD clutches. Quote
SandShooter Posted August 28, 2004 Report Posted August 28, 2004 I have a tusk clutch. It works fine with 3 stock and 3 HD springs. There is one thing that I dont like, the clutch adjustment changes from cold to hot alot. I heard that tusk steels swell with heat? I have my engine apart now so I am looking into this, if I have to I will replace the clutch. Quote
a&sbanshee Posted August 28, 2004 Report Posted August 28, 2004 fzr600 fibers with barnett steel and run all barnett springs or either 3 tommeys and 3 stockers and u shouldnt have a problem for a long time assuming u have it adjusted right and remember before u install new clutch's to soak them in gear oil for 15-20 mins before installing them cuz if u put dry clutches in the bike and just put gear oil in it and go u will be pulling it down real quick with a burnt set of clutches Quote
rebelbanshee2 Posted August 28, 2004 Report Posted August 28, 2004 I have the EBC kevlar 8 plater clutch from rocky mountain. It has worked excellent for me. its on its 2nd year of serous abuse and still looks great Quote
harley_sr Posted August 29, 2004 Author Report Posted August 29, 2004 Well i found a Barnette Clutch, the guy told me it was a Carbon Fiber clutch, w/ springs, and steels.. Is that clutch any good? He told me that it was the best one barnette made.. Quote
