Trying To Stop Pulling In The Clutch And Coasting

I never knew how much I pulled in the clutch and coasted until I tried to stop ( for my trannys sake) I do it all the time. I always thought if you where gunna slow down from Hig R's you should pull in the clutch and coast becuase if you just let off the throttle the engine stops getting fuel (i.e. lubrication) But I recently found out that that was very bad for the tranny. I hope I didnt do any dammage allready.

It's ok to coast, as long as you're in the right gear for the speed you are coasting. Just remember, the lower the gear, the faster the clutch hub is turning. The faster it turns, the more friction and heat is created.

isnt this how you test the spark plugs to see if its running lean or not? if no then i guess its time for a ball and pushrod inspection?

nyuk if you use 2 full quarts of oil it will put the oil line right at the middle of the ball and the rod and will stop it from welding

WHen you're in 6th gear, the clutch hub is'nt spinning fast enough to cause the ball to weld

Same goes for big downhills.I try to kick it into neutral vs clutching it all the way down some of the steep,slow hills.Its not like theres any engine brake effect anyways

I didnt realize there was speculation I thought that just pullin in the clutch and coasting in general was bad??? so if im in 6th gear its ok to do it but not in the lower gears unless I go all the way to Neutral???? If Im gunna coast with clutch pulled in kick it up a couple gears if I can??? am I right??

2 full quarts ine the "transmison" thats what i was told by the people who run override tranys at the dunes
