Stinco Posted April 13, 2004 Report Posted April 13, 2004 I finally took my bike out from a winter of hibernation, changed the oil, cleaned the filter, all that good stuff, brand new plugs too, but when I go to start it, it takes a dozen kicks, and runs on both cylinders for a few seconds, then one side completely cuts out..(clutch lever side) and obviously wont idle on its own.. i remove the plug (clutch side) that keeps shutting down, check the spark, tons of spark.. what the hell is going on here?? Is my coil failing me somehow??? what might this be ??? Quote
nater006 Posted April 13, 2004 Report Posted April 13, 2004 Might be a plugged up carb? Especially if it was running fine when you put it away.. Quote
cam2 Posted April 13, 2004 Report Posted April 13, 2004 i agree with nater006. if you didn't take your carbs off and drain them completely of fuel before you stored it then you will have to take them off now and clean them real good. even if you ran the bike until it stalls there will still be some fuel in the bowls, the gas will evaporate and the oil won't so what you will end up with is crud in the bowl that will eventually clog your jets when the new fuel flows through the system. SDD Posted April 14, 2004 Report Posted April 14, 2004 Tighten the parking brake or unplug the little switch that goes to the clutch perch. Quote
Stinco Posted April 14, 2004 Author Report Posted April 14, 2004 Right on, i'll give this a shot and see how it turns out, Thanks a ton.. Stinco Quote
boonman Posted April 14, 2004 Report Posted April 14, 2004 If you still have the factory TORS setup, try disconnecting that. There is a small black box, adjacent to the coil, with 3 wires. Disconnect it. That wll completely disable the system. Also, clean the carbs as aforementioned. This can do wonders!!! Remember to use compressed air, and cleaner/solvent..... Quote
Rescuejeff Posted April 14, 2004 Report Posted April 14, 2004 Do the carbs then remove all the stuff from the tors and check the rest of your concections and go for it. Quote
