Elka Banshee Posted April 12, 2004 Report Posted April 12, 2004 (edited) Has anyone been up to Silver Lake this year? If you have, are they enforcing the sound ordinance strictly? Also. We are bringing up a big group at the end of the month to go riding. It's April 29th through May 2nd. Anyone else going to be there give me a shout. Edited April 12, 2004 by Elka Banshee Quote
boonman Posted April 12, 2004 Report Posted April 12, 2004 Well, I haven't een there this year, but I do know that the last two years have been enforced, so I can't see the DNR not doing it this year... Quote
Brian G Posted April 12, 2004 Report Posted April 12, 2004 I was there the first weekend. Some changes this year, state parks stickers are now $24.00 dollars and the sound limit is 94dba. Last year they had a 4 decibile window which would allow you up to 98 dba but I talked with a DNR officer and asked if that was going to be repeated and he said he doubts it!!!, He said that they have given up ample of time to get the noise level down on our machines and we should know the rules by now!!! other than that it is the same!!! sam97 Posted April 12, 2004 Report Posted April 12, 2004 I will be heading out to Silver Lake that weekend for my first time. I just bought ProCircuit Platinums with spark arrestor silencers. Will I be under the decibel limit? I can't wait to go. Quote
Brian G Posted April 12, 2004 Report Posted April 12, 2004 Sam97, I have the same pipes and they hit 95-96 dba, you should be ok, just make sure the bike is nice and warmed up before you go to the entrance and you should be ok Quote
Banshee Twink Posted April 14, 2004 Report Posted April 14, 2004 I will be up on the 1st for the day, first time this year, just make sure you have your sparkies twink Quote
bronco91shee Posted April 14, 2004 Report Posted April 14, 2004 im goin up this sunday if anyone will be there. otherwise next time is memorial day for sure. ill prolly be up somewhere in between. any of u guys take up anything other than ur shee's? ive heard they r really cuttin down on that sound stuff and spark arrestors this yr. if ur not good, dont even wastet ur time, i herd they aint lettin anything slide this yr. im tired of it al ready, but we all knew it was comin. ohwell, cant wait to meet som of yall up there. we all doin that duct tape thing right, so we can find eachother? peace out Quote
Hockey390 Posted April 14, 2004 Report Posted April 14, 2004 My shee is so freegin loud, I dunno if I will make it.. I am running the old school FMF fatties (gold series) with powercore II silencers (the old boxy ones) with the tips cut off... Anyone running similar? I wish I could test it at home before driving 2 hours... Also do my pipes have spark arestors? how can I find out? And where can I buy them cheap? Quote
banshdog Posted April 14, 2004 Report Posted April 14, 2004 shove a stick or something into the exhaust, if it is stopped then there is a spark arrester inside. if the stick is not stopped and continues up the pipe, then no spark arrester. Look around, you can buy bolt on spark arresters, i think they are pretty nasty lookin, but they do the job. Im going to silver lake this friday - sunday. with my pc pipes and silencers, ive heard they run 95-96 dB, i better get in. Quote
nater006 Posted April 14, 2004 Report Posted April 14, 2004 My parents place is <30 minutes from there so I'll be there numerous times this year hopefully. They DO check for sound and for spark molesters. They also have a mobile patrol out in the dunes so you can't just unbolt your sparkys and throw 'em in your backpack unfortunately..hehe. Flexible rod is what they use to check. Quote
bronco91shee Posted April 14, 2004 Report Posted April 14, 2004 ive got 2 sparkys someone can borrow if yall need some just for a day. one fits toomy/procirut and the other fits fmf. i know not much help, but if i can help, ill try. as to the power core/fmf set up. i have it on my shee. the power cores R NOT legal. u have to use sparkys or get turbine cores. also shops have told me to repack every yr if not sooner to keep it at the level to get in. idk, just what ive heard. bansdog, u wanna meet up? ill be up round 12-1. and goin home after sunset. ill be in my bronco, with my friends riding quads. look me up if u want. peace out Quote
banshdog Posted April 14, 2004 Report Posted April 14, 2004 ill keep an eye out for you bronco91shee, ill be there with a decent size group. probably 12 quads + jeeps. banshees and 450's, on a four place trailer towed by a grey 2000 chevy on 37's. hope the wather is nice! Quote
QuadMX Posted April 14, 2004 Report Posted April 14, 2004 Where's some place I could get my db checked. I definately am not under 100 and I have no spark arrestors. What can I do for that? Have to buy some or what? I'm looking to get out there July 14, 15 16 if anybody wanted to meet up out there at that time. Bob Quote
Elka Banshee Posted April 18, 2004 Author Report Posted April 18, 2004 what kind of pipes do you have? you will have to buy spark arestors. Quote
doltz Posted April 19, 2004 Report Posted April 19, 2004 I just got back yesterday & there was no sound check all weekend just a Sparky check. They said it is intermitten checks but if you put your quad in the back of a truck & say it is blown you can ride in. Quote
