I had my stock CDI unit go out on me so I replaced it with a Dyna FS Unit and it seems to make my bike run rough. I have tried all the preset curves and none of them seem to make any difference, including the stock setting. Do you need to re-jet after installing one of these ? Does anyone know what the degree of each curve is ? i have a stock, 1, 2, and 3 curve available. Thanks

You should not have to rejet after installilng the Dyna. Depending on who programmed your box how the timing is. I run 94 octane and on my Dyna I can use program 2-4. If I use 1 I would have to run 100 + octane. Now, my first Dyna went bad after a few months so It was replaced under warranty. You may want to send the box back to where you bought it. If I do remember the Dyna's have a 1 year warranty.

I have a 370 longrod kit and I run a mix of gas. I mix 3 gal of vp red 114 with 2 gal of 92. So my octane is good. My shee is a 89' so the Dyna I have for it has the little dip switches on a box. There is stock, curve1, 2, and 3. All seem to make it run about the same. No difference when shooting hills or duning ? Just wanted to see if any one had one of these and what the results were that they got. Thanks for everyones input.

I just intalled a Dyna on my shee last night and ran it today. Runs GREAT!! I had to buy diffrent spark plugs, Br8es, instead of b8es. The dyna tech guy says that is the plug you should run..no need for the other fancy things. He wasalso telling me to make shure there is no timing advance on the stator and that regular non-resistor type plugs might cause problems...he also said to run stock coil stock and plug caps..resistor type. He also said the blue and brown wires are for rpm operated equipment like fuel injections or other aftermarket sensors. you don't need them connected.

 

I noticed when I installed mine, the bike ran leaner. I was jetted rich to begin with so alls that I had to do was check my plugs to make shure they were a nice golden brown and not white or blistered as in a lean condition. I'm actully impressed with the dyna ignition. My shee's back to the way she used to be, starts up on the first kick and makes more power...plus it's got a higher rev limit, I'm not bullshitting..there IS an actual feelable diffrence.

OK sounds like you guys are diggin on your Dyna boxes ? I am having an issue with my shee not idle'n with the dyna but idles fine when I put the stock CDI back on ? Any suggestions ? I was going to send my Dyna back and see if I could get a replacement, maybe I got a bad box ? Also I tried all the switch setting on the little box that lets you adjust your timing. And I did not see, hear or feal any difference. Should I, would I, could I ?

I am using the br8es plugs. I do have new plug caps on but that shouldn't make a difference should it ? They are just universal caps.

They Dyna tech guy told me it's important that you run the stock OEM plug boots. There is a resistor or something inside it that the dyna box needs in order to function properly. Also you might be running lean. does it idle with the choke on? if it does, then your lean. Call the dyna tech line and ask for some help and info.

i dont think premium gas will make that much of a difference, my banshee runs really good on co-op gas. its 87 octane ethenal mix...im switching to 91 but it has always ran very well??

Yes it does make a diffrence. premium 93 octane gas is the minimum you should run. Make shure it's sraight gas, not cut with any additives like ethenol or fuel injector cleaners. The motor will last longer. The cleaning additives mess with the lubrication properties of the oil. The ethenol isn't good eather, it could cause the bike to knock and just behave funny. If you run straight alcohol it's a diffrent story, but then you have to run diffrent carbs, fuel tank and cirtain brand of oil...the ethenol could also cause the oil to seperate while it sits in the gas tank.
