  1. Pictures, I want to see some pictures if anyone has any ? I wanted to do this but was affraid to restrict airflow to the radiator.
  2. OK sounds like you guys are diggin on your Dyna boxes ? I am having an issue with my shee not idle'n with the dyna but idles fine when I put the stock CDI back on ? Any suggestions ? I was going to send my Dyna back and see if I could get a replacement, maybe I got a bad box ? Also I tried all the switch setting on the little box that lets you adjust your timing. And I did not see, hear or feal any difference. Should I, would I, could I ? I am using the br8es plugs. I do have new plug caps on but that shouldn't make a difference should it ? They are just universal caps.
  3. I have some pistons that are already broken in, complete with baked sand on top for added protection for the top of the piston . I also have some high performance muffler bearings that I would be willing to throw in. one complete never been used parking brake, and Oh yeah and most important of all I have an extra air box lid to contribute . Good luck, it looks like you are on your way to having a semi-sponsered, semi-built banshee.
  4. I have a 370 longrod kit and I run a mix of gas. I mix 3 gal of vp red 114 with 2 gal of 92. So my octane is good. My shee is a 89' so the Dyna I have for it has the little dip switches on a box. There is stock, curve1, 2, and 3. All seem to make it run about the same. No difference when shooting hills or duning ? Just wanted to see if any one had one of these and what the results were that they got. Thanks for everyones input.
  5. I had my stock CDI unit go out on me so I replaced it with a Dyna FS Unit and it seems to make my bike run rough. I have tried all the preset curves and none of them seem to make any difference, including the stock setting. Do you need to re-jet after installing one of these ? Does anyone know what the degree of each curve is ? i have a stock, 1, 2, and 3 curve available. Thanks
  6. I need to know where I can get some replacement screws for the plastic piece that goes over the flywheel. there are different lengths. Thanks
  7. Does anyone know where I can get a set of replacement screws for the flywheel cover. Not sure if that is what it is called ? It is on the left side. Black plastic cover with several different shaped screws. The ones that came on the bike are in bad shap, I would rather not put them back on. Thanks
  8. You can get a GPS for around $100 and that will accuratley tell you your speed ( except uphill of course) It will also record your average speed and top speed as well. Not to mention it also marks waypoints and gets you back to camp when your out in the dunes. That's my 2 cents about the speedo. Definatley put some pipes on that machine, I run FMF fatty's and they give me some good mid range power which is where I like it. Look at what kinda riding you do or want to do and then determine what mods will benefit you the most. This is the place to find out about all the stuff that is out there. Lots of knowledgeable people here.
  9. Thanks, I will try that. Any suggestions on what may be causing the no spark issue I am having ? My stator and coil test good from what I can tell using the service guide and a multi meter. I have no way of testing my CDI, I don't know anyone with an older banshee that I can swap with. Should I just say f*@k it and get a new CDI ? I am broke as all hell and that is why i am trying to fix this myself. Any input is greatly appreciated. Thanks
  10. I am not sure that I understand, I am not to familiar with the electrical ? There is a connector that comes from the kill switch or engine on/off switch ( not sure what it is technically called). It goes in to a harness and I am not sure where that goes, CDI unit maybe ? There is about 4 or 5 wires in this connector and it connects right under the handle-bars. Are you saying to just unpulg that and leave it unplugged ? Thanks
  11. Does anyone know how to bypass the kill switch ? I am trying to eliminate that as a possibility for a no spark issue I am having. I just need to know which wires to connect together to bypass the switch.
  12. I am still trying to get my shee back up and running, it is dune season after all. I was wondering if someone could tell me how to by-pass or test my on/off or kill switch to eliminate that from the possibilities ? I am not getting any spark, I tested the stator and coil as per the service guide and things check out good, as far as i can tell ? I just hate to spend any more time or money on this thing, I just want to ride
  13. I have an 89 shee and I am in the process of trouble shooting a no spark problem. I am following the service guide as far as testing the stator and coil. Every thing appears to be good ? Can someone tell me how I can test or by-pass my kill switch (on/off) ? I want to eliminate that as a possibility before buying a CDi box. Which brings up my next question. Trinity racing has a dyna box that allows you to adjust your timming on the fly, any comments or reccomendations on this ? Also is there any other tests that I can do to eliminate the stator ? I don't have any friends with banshee's as old as mine that I can swap parts with. The local shops want about $85 just to trouble shoot it, I would rather use that money toward whatever part I need to replace. Thanks
  14. Please excuse my wording and or explanations of the tests but I will do my best to describe what I have done. Following the flow chart in the service manual here is what I got. Step7 on page 243 For the primary coil test ( orange and black ) I got a reading of .4 ohm. Not sure how the other test for the coil is suppesed to be done ? They call it secondary coil resistance test. Picture shows leaving the multi-meter on black and then testing one of the plug wires ( plug cap ) ? I got no readings doing this. Then the next test was pick up coil resistance, disconnect the CDI magneto coupler ( Green, Red, white/red, white/green ). White/red and white/green I got 145 ohm. Green and red I got 17 ohm. I am going to go buy a new coil $50, and probably just order a Ricky Stator online $125. What is your advice ? My stator is a 200w Ricky stator, not sure how old it is, it came with the bike. Most shops tell me that 99% of the time no spark means bad stator. Ricky Stator says they have never had one go bad ? I don't really have easy access to another banshee to swap CDI boxes either. Any advice or suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
  15. I have an 89' shee with the same issue, no spark. I have done the tests that the service guide shows to do to measure resistance, but I am not sure if I am doing it right. Any help on this issue would be greatly appreciated, as I can't see spending $65 to a local shop to do diags on it when I could put that $65 tward the part I need to replace. Which brings up another issue, where can I get a CDI unit ? I have only seen after market ones which go for over $400 ? What about a coil as well ? I know I can get a stator from Ricky stator, or is there some place better ?
