erbilabuc Posted February 9, 2004 Report Posted February 9, 2004 I want to get rid of my on/off switch because I have had a killswitch forever and I really do not see the need for having it. Do i just cut off the wires and twist them together or leave them apart? Quote
cb67rs1 Posted February 9, 2004 Report Posted February 9, 2004 i think you leave them apart cause when you make the switch it grounds the ignition to kill the spark, could be wrong though, i think you can just unplug it though Quote
njbansheerider Posted February 9, 2004 Report Posted February 9, 2004 Are you tlaking about the key switch on the switch on the handle bars ? If its the key swittch all you have to do it put the red and black wire together and if your talk about the handles bars switch just unplug it Quote
spoin39 Posted February 9, 2004 Report Posted February 9, 2004 Just a tip, if you only have the tether for a kill switch you will wear it out alot quicker. I use the stock kill and the tether for racing only. Quote
Creole Posted February 9, 2004 Report Posted February 9, 2004 I have had a killswitch forever how did you hook up you switch? Quote
erbilabuc Posted February 9, 2004 Author Report Posted February 9, 2004 I have had a killswitch forever how did you hook up you switch? its conected to the wires were the key used to be at. And I am talking about getting rid of the switch on the handlebars. Quote
fastlilone Posted February 9, 2004 Report Posted February 9, 2004 just curious, but why take it off? even if you don't use it it isn't really causeing any problems being there. and as far as taking it off, just take it off and see if it starts, if it doesn't put the wires together and try again. sredish Posted February 9, 2004 Report Posted February 9, 2004 and as far as taking it off, just take it off and see if it starts, if it doesn't put the wires together and try again. Your making things too easy. Quote
erbilabuc Posted February 9, 2004 Author Report Posted February 9, 2004 Fastlilone: I want to take it off because I just put in pro taper bars and the bend of these bars doesnt allow for the proper fit of everything. Dont get me wrong tough- everything fits fine on the bars but its not within reach of my thumb so I have deemed it useless. Everyone else : The reason why I asked and didnt just unplug it is because I am not sure if this switch is connected in any way to the Tors system and I didnt want to turn one simple thing into several awful problems. I did this t my raptor and it wouldnt start for some reason. It would turn over but it wouldnt start. Then I put the switch back on and everything was fine. Quote
bpreuss Posted February 10, 2004 Report Posted February 10, 2004 if it dont fit right on the bars, mount it up in front of the pipes on the frame, that way it will clean up the bars and you can still use it if you ever want to put your light back on or whatever Quote
