Crank Case Gear Oil?

Recommended Posts

i have been reading a lot about what people put in there crank case. i put motul 10w30, havnt had a problem with it, but it is like 10 bucks a bottle. i work at an kragens, so getting regular oil is way easier, but is it really okay to use. if i go that way is it better to use castrol 10w40 or tranny type f. sorry to ask this question again, but i get both answers from all the post. again, just looking to see if it really is ok to use regular motor oil and wether tranny type f is better then motor oil. sorry for the long post.

I like to use the ATF type F. but if you use regular motor oil then use something like castrol GTX 20/50 that doesn't have any friction modifiers. I've used both oils and both will do the job well. you wont have any problems with the ATF type F or the 20/50.
