Guys I need your help :D (Sorry bout the book as always)

I am trying to split my cases to check out all of my internals after a main bearing "grenadation" :(

I have been following the clymers in order to take split the case. I am currently working on the clutch removal.

- I took out all of the plates, springs, etc.

- I couldn't get the ball and pushrod out...is there a secret? It is inside where i can't grab it...if there is a secret, please let lil' ol' me know:) Do I need this out before attempting to remove the nut?

- Now I am trying to remove the basket...There is the large nut to remove. The clymers shows using some special tool to hold onto the basket while trying to remove the nut...well I don't have the tool. I read somewhere that I can use an impact wrench. I borrowed my brothers small pancake cylinder and have the impact wrench...no luck...it still wants to spin the entire basket instead of removing the nut. I don't have anything in gear...I don't know if that is necessary or not...but I don't. (BTW, I do have the lock washer "unbent") The air compressor doesn't hold much air, so it does run out of air fairly quickly (as well as the pressure drops), but it was impacting the nut. I sprayed some anti-seize liquid on it...but it doesn't look like it is seized.

This is my big hold up right now, so any help would be greatly and I do mean greatly appreciated.

You can go buy the clutch hub holding tool or if you are getting a new clutch you can simply bolt one friction plate and one steel plate together. I like having the wrench since it's really two tools in one. One side holds the clutch hub and the pins on the back are used to hold the flywheel so you can remove the nut off the shaft. I've also used the pins to hold a sprocket when tightening the sprocket nut.
