Quote
blk02banshee Posted January 4, 2004 Report Posted January 4, 2004 I have double rates with rezzies. They're alright. They feel a little soft, but they're holding up great. Way better than stock. Quote
evil Posted January 4, 2004 Report Posted January 4, 2004 i have the tripple rates with ressis and have nothing bad to say about them. i hear its better for mx to run the dual rates, but i havent had any problems with mine on mx tracks or running through the desert. if you call works speak to sandy, he understood exactly how i wanted my shocks set up and hit it dead on. ive had friends ride my shee and not beleave they were works by the way it handled. Killer_Shee Posted January 4, 2004 Report Posted January 4, 2004 I have ran Works on all my quads for 10 years now, they are the most underrated shock on the market. For my last 'shee, I sprang for the Works Pro-Series piggyback shocks and let me say they are the best shock I have ever ridden including the likes of Elka. Works is a great company to deal with and their customer service is excellent. If you are unhappy with the setup on your shocks, you just send them in and they change your setup for free. Works products are great and have a much more attractive price tag than their competitors. Quote
spoin39 Posted January 4, 2004 Report Posted January 4, 2004 I agree! I had mine setup by TCS but the works shocks are everybit as good as Elka, PEP, Ohlins, etc. They just don't have the high prices! Quote
. Posted January 4, 2004 Report Posted January 4, 2004 I have a set of tripples with rezzies and ride more woods/hillclimbs/some jumping with them and they are 100 times better than stock. I also hear the dual rates are better for mx/bigger jumping. I went riding down at Hatfield-McCoy trails last year with the stock shocks, and this year with the works. Last year I got punished, and couldnt make it up some of the climbs because of how rocky it was and it would bounce me all over the place, get all sideways and I'd have to get off the gas. With the works my body didnt ache as much by the end of the day, and I was a lot more confident hitting climbs because the shocks just soaked up all the rocks, ruts, and everything I could throw at them. I had one guy hit the one rocky hill that has a 440ex with elka's, cause he didnt believe how good the works were, and it was cool as shit to watch the banshee rip up this rock laden hill, front tires hitting rocks and coming up one at a time with the other one still on the ground. I'll have my helmet camera back in action soon and be able to start filming once again. Quote
FORMULASPEED Posted January 4, 2004 Report Posted January 4, 2004 sorry powerman for jumpin your post. Does worcs offer a self sag shocks? Quote
Blue Duece Posted January 4, 2004 Report Posted January 4, 2004 i have a set of works doubles on one of my bikes before that i had the works tripples on that bike...i have a mx shee that ive ran ohlins customs all the way around on and now elka full race ssd's......the elka is a great shock, the ride height is tits, you can slam them into berms, long jump them, your tires stick to the track like glue.....i cant say one of those things about my works shocks....they chatter over bumps, bottom at the drop of a hat, but compared to stock are better......... Quote
Proquad101 Posted January 4, 2004 Report Posted January 4, 2004 I have been running them on my bike for awhile, what I like is they cost alot less than most shocks and if they are not working how you want them it is easy to find somebody to revalve them or rebuild them pretty cheap. They will last long if you have them serviced once or twice a year depending on how you ride. Quote
InFlames Posted January 4, 2004 Report Posted January 4, 2004 I too have works doubles on the front of my shee...BIG improvement over stock... u will love the change. Quote
powerman034 Posted January 5, 2004 Author Report Posted January 5, 2004 so for motocross and freestyle would i be satisfied. im gona be racing quite a bit so the double rates? ive heard a lot of different things about works. you guys think i will be 100% satisfied for racing Quote
spoin39 Posted January 5, 2004 Report Posted January 5, 2004 Yes! Just make sure they are setup for your weight and riding style and you'll be set. Don't buy them off the shelf! Mine has held up great, I'm not a pro but my local track has some 65-80ft doubles, a 90ft ski-jump and a 70 step-up that throws you about 16ft and mine works great. Only time it bottoms is if I overjump or case it. I think works gets a bad rep cause some people just order a set and don't have them valved for their kind of riding. Quote
Blue Duece Posted January 5, 2004 Report Posted January 5, 2004 so for motocross and freestyle would i be satisfied. im gona be racing quite a bit so the double rates? ive heard a lot of different things about works. you guys think i will be 100% satisfied for racing i wasnt but maybe you will be....i would go with the doubles.....one of the problems i found with works is that they use the same spring gage for all there shocks but change the preload for ride height, so if your a heaver guy you crank the preload only problem with that is the shock body only has so much travel if you crank the preload down you take from that travel, if all you do is land perfect the stock shocks would be fine....for mx you'll need a a shock that will follow the track, keep your front end planted, absorb most of the rough stuff and allow you to stay in your line a shock like the elka ssd's allow for a lower ride height making your bike a slot car on the track yet still soaking up the obsticles, i feestyle jump i call it long jumping cause im not into the supermans and knack knack shit but doing a 90 footer is doing a 90 footer, if your short or long it doesnt matter who made your shocks, your health care provider comes into play there, in theory a tripple is softer on top yet stiffer on the bottom than a double, but again the body is not long enough to utilize that concept so you end up with a soft upper ride but not enough spring for the harder hits..........look at your favorite pro mx rider if he has works shocks go with those.......if not rethink your purchase and go with something you can at least set the rebound on...you'll find you need that on the track, and for jumping Quote
SHEE_17 Posted January 9, 2004 Report Posted January 9, 2004 I have tripple rates with rezzies adn i have nothing bad to say about them there a smooth shock for some one who wants a non expensive shock to perform like the "elka" shock i rell cant tell a diffrence between them ive rode the with the best and with out and they perform just like the elkas in my opinion Quote
Skiddz Posted January 10, 2004 Report Posted January 10, 2004 sorry powerman for jumpin your post. Does worcs offer a self sag shocks? Not sure if they call 'em self-sag, but I spoke with the folks at Works last week when I ordered my new shocks asking about them. Works calls this style of shock a "stadium" shock. Quote
