you sure the bulbs are good, something similar happend to me and every one was saying my voltage regularot went (let too much power thru) and that blew out both bulbs. Does the tail light work? on mine all the lights just flashed bright then went out.

mine did that, too. What year are both of your banshees? If they're 02 or newer, I think it has something to do with the halogen lights and the brake light. Maybe yamaha upped the power a little to run the brake light, but since the brake light is only on when you use the brakes, the other lights are getting too much power. Just a thought.

mine go off all the time some wires under the taillight come undone i just rap them in some electral tape and its fine

First off you need to do some investigation of your own. Checking continuity of the stator lighting coils, checking the wiring for frays or broken wires, checking the switch, checking the grounds, checking the bulbs for continuity, checking connections, etc. Next any suggestions that may be given are going to be wild ass guesses (WAGS). Diagnosing problems with out being in the presence of the bike is hard enough for mechanical symptoms and damn near impossible for electrical problems. Your best bet would be to invest in a clymer manual and a cheap multimeter from Radioshack or an autoparts store. Then proceed to the wiring diagram, look at it, understand it, and begin tracing the wiring and eliminating potential sources of problems. Fortunately the wiring on the banshee is pretty simple.

 

Does anyone know what went bad so I can replace it?

 

(Sarcastic mode on) So if you can't do any of the above, I suggest that you buy a new Banshee to replace the bad one. (Sacrcastic mode off)

My Shee is a 97. I found out that it was the voltage regultor. Nothing really too hard to fix. And yes.....I did use the multimeter. The easiet way to check the bulbs is to look at them. If the filiment is broken the light is bad. I did not have the manual at the time.

i broke a light and got a new bulb ...right hand side actually and it blew after a week or 2 only i was pissed. i got a set of trail techs on the way i'm gonn put on. they outta be a hell of alot better than stock,look nicer too. glad 2 hear u figured it out,lices are a nice commodity lol :)

at the back of the banshee there is a blue wire that sometimes comes disconected and it causes them not to work ......i just had to fix mine and they work just fine now so just check the wires in the back and see it there all conected

Isnt the blue wire comming from the voltage regulator?

Hmm if i am correct i was able to disconnect that wire and my lights still worked fine!

 

what does the black wire do .. (comming from the voltage regulator aswell)

There is only one wire comeing out of mine too. The other wire is a ground wire and should be grounded.

 

Anyways, I have a spare stock banshee voltage regulator for sale if you need it, make me an offer, I got a beefier one for an aftermarket stator, but the stock one still works fine and is in great shape.

yea its probably the voltage regulator...if thats not functioning properly then a surge of electricity can jsut pop all of the bulbs...(if for some reason you are hot wireing the bike thats whats wrong with it) when u dis connect all the wire from the ground your voltage regulator isnt hooked up...buy some new bulbs and make sure everything is grouded right and that your voltage regulator is grounded right ( also if you have painted the frame ...the ground could be bad with the voltage regulator)
