itsmyforte Posted December 18, 2003 Report Posted December 18, 2003 it appears that after i have been working on a wired basketcase and in need of a tune up banshee that i am trading it for my 400ex. it is a christmas present for a family member and my uncle decided its way too much power for his son. i ofcourse was estatic but i told him if he changed his mind at any point i don't have a problem with it. lets see i am trading a $3k quad for a $1500 shitter. hmm.... naw it runs like a raped ape but is in need of a cleaning and some new drive components. ledofthezep Posted December 18, 2003 Report Posted December 18, 2003 Right on man...I'm actually trading my '99 shee for a 400ex....a dealer in OK said they'd trade me strait over for my choice of 2 2001 EX's. I'll have to check them out in person before I decide which one I want...but here's some pics of them... & my/her shee I'm trading. Whatchya think? Quote
itsmyforte Posted December 18, 2003 Author Report Posted December 18, 2003 nice! guess i don't have to email you and tell you the latest news. btw 2 rules to owning Honda: 1. it must be RED, and 2. paint that heat shield bright red and put on a slip on pipe. other than that unless you go bigger bore and cam those 400's don't do much besides use more gas when you "bolt on" mods. ledofthezep Posted December 18, 2003 Report Posted December 18, 2003 Right on.... From the pics the red one looks like it's in a bit better condition, other than the fenders...but I'll probably change them down the road anyway. We'll see...will post pics when I can. Oh yeah...and no you don't need to write me a john deere letter. hehe Take it sleezy... Quote
. Posted December 18, 2003 Report Posted December 18, 2003 did you find out what your shee is worth? I would think that you could get 3 grand for it. It's got pretty much work done to it. I would think that you could find a nicer 400ex than those for the 3 grand plus a little extra. Things to think about. The 450R is coming out soon and I think you'll be seeing a lot of 400ex's going up for sale after it hits the market. If you dont have a place that your income tax returns are going yet it would also be some money that you could put toward a quad. I say hold out until at least the 450R's hit the market for a little bit before going with the 400ex. Hell, you might be able to get a brand new one for what you sell the shee for plus an extra grand or so. Those 400's are gonna need tires soon, and I'm sure a few other things as well (chain, sprocket, bearings, brakes, etc etc etc) Quote
Justintoxicated Posted December 18, 2003 Report Posted December 18, 2003 The banshee looks nicer and in better shape than those 400's Im guessing its more expensive by a good amount though. Quote
Mr.Giggles Posted December 18, 2003 Report Posted December 18, 2003 It's your choice man but I would think that you will be off pushing that Honda looking for more speed compared to the speed your use too from your Banshee.I guess it also depends on the type of riding you do,the Honda will perform better in the tight stuff. Your Banshee looks pretty nice to me. Quote
Big Blue Posted December 21, 2003 Report Posted December 21, 2003 why would you trade a banshee for a ex? Quote
ScreaminShee01 Posted December 21, 2003 Report Posted December 21, 2003 why would you trade a banshee for a ex? x 2 please tell us why you would do such a thing Quote
frocashmoney24 Posted December 21, 2003 Report Posted December 21, 2003 at least strip the shee of the aftermarket parts first Quote
dogboystoy Posted December 21, 2003 Report Posted December 21, 2003 First off, Why do I have to scroll left and right on this post? Is it because of the images? That is annoying. Second, If the dealer is willing to trade that nice banshee for those 400 ex's they have to be planning on making a good buck off of you banshee. I wouldnt do it. I would sell your banshee outright and take that money and go buy whatever you want. Quote
wheeleymaster99 Posted December 21, 2003 Report Posted December 21, 2003 yeah why would you trade youe shees for a 400 Quote
STLBILL Posted December 22, 2003 Report Posted December 22, 2003 Hi all: Ditto. I could justify putting the 'Shee up for adoption, but never for a 400EX! You better check your local laws. This might be illegal. If it's not - it should be. Regards, Bill Quote
ledofthezep Posted December 22, 2003 Report Posted December 22, 2003 Thanks guys....here's the deal. 1. It's not my banshee, it's the g/f's & she wants an EX...she likes the banshee but wants an EX for the electric start, predictable power, etc...she just likes them. And I wouldn't mind having one, they're not that bad of a quad. I'll still have my banshee either way. 2. The banshee needs a new clutch & axle, the fenders are not the best by far--stressed & scratched(you can't see that in the pics very well) The clutch cable is going to need replacing, and a couple other minor things. It's far from a POS though, is a good bike, has 150lbs compression on both cyl's & good mods. Looks alright. 3. I have no title for it, I will get a clean title with the EX--have discussed this with the dealer. I don't have to fix the quad before the trade either, they'll replace the needed parts....mainly needs just a clutch, but the axle could be replaced. 4. It's worth the $3800 they're asking for the EX, but I'd be lucky to get that selling it outright. 5. I won't part with my baby. Quote
ledofthezep Posted December 22, 2003 Report Posted December 22, 2003 Forgot....here's some new pics of the banshee I'm trading if interested.... http://www.kcisp.net/~bking/99Banshee Quote
