94BansheeRider Posted December 14, 2003 Report Posted December 14, 2003 I just got my bike back from getting dyno'd. It is tuned to 61.1 RWHP. Is this pretty good for my setup? I was hoping for mid to upper 60's. Quote
Leadfoot350 Posted December 14, 2003 Report Posted December 14, 2003 How many passes did you make? Can you print the graph? I think that is kind of low too. Who and what kind of porting did you get? What octaine gas do you run and elevation also? Quote
National Banshee Posted December 14, 2003 Report Posted December 14, 2003 A stock engine with T5"s puts out around 45 HP. Carbs, head , might add 15-20%. I think your close. Quote
94BansheeRider Posted December 14, 2003 Author Report Posted December 14, 2003 It was several passes. Three I think. I usually run 110 octane, straight. Yes I know it's expensive, but I love the smell . Elevation is 700ft above. It is just a mild port job. I was going to get more porting when I installed the new carbs, but time does not permit. The bike was tuned for our upcoming trip to Yuma/Glamis. Wound up having to lean out the carbs. I now have 142 mains in. I recently put on one of those K&N filter lids for my airbox with no outwear on the lid. The friend that did my porting said not to run the outerwear. Too restrictive. When I got it dyno'd, they guy told me that the LID was restrictive and I should run just and outerwear on the PRIMARY filter. What do you all think? He told me this HP was about average for a 350 with this setup, without stepping up stroke and bore. I said "stroke" Banshee's RULE Quote
MULLET~BOY Posted December 14, 2003 Report Posted December 14, 2003 dyno charts mean nothing all a dyno is this its gives you a base line so you can tell how much hp you gained by adding a new part and you have to test the same day so many factors like temp humidty change the numbers also some dynos will give you higher numbers then others some will give you alot lower numbers there just never acurate i duno what kinda porting you have but 60 hp for a ported bike isn't all that bad dyno could have been a little low that day depends on what style porting you whent with and who ported it Quote
MULLET~BOY Posted December 14, 2003 Report Posted December 14, 2003 i guess we posted at the same time but thats about right for a banshee with mild porting Quote
Big Mike NY Posted December 14, 2003 Report Posted December 14, 2003 what kind of HP do you guys think my bike makes. See my sid for mods... Thanks Quote
MULLET~BOY Posted December 14, 2003 Report Posted December 14, 2003 probably high 40's to low 50's Quote
94BansheeRider Posted December 14, 2003 Author Report Posted December 14, 2003 jethro Thanks for the input. Quote
Leadfoot350 Posted December 14, 2003 Report Posted December 14, 2003 You should run individual K&N filters with outerwears. Who did your porting? Quote
Justintoxicated Posted December 14, 2003 Report Posted December 14, 2003 outerwear is in no way more restrictive than the airbox lid! Now way at all! 142 mains ! I didnt know they made them that small, You sure something isn't wrong? After I got porting I had to go up to 370's in my stock carbs! 142?!?! How does your engine get any fuel? Quote
broke Posted December 14, 2003 Report Posted December 14, 2003 Those are Keihin jet sizes, not Mikuni. broke Quote
94BansheeRider Posted December 14, 2003 Author Report Posted December 14, 2003 Leadfoot, A local guy from one of the bike shops did my porting, he works hand in hand with the shop that does the dyno. It was tuned for the K&N filter lid installed, so I had to go from 148 mains to 142. Do you mean individual filters for each carb? No airbox? Peace Quote
Justintoxicated Posted December 14, 2003 Report Posted December 14, 2003 well that explains the jet size thing Your engine will flow more air with clamp on and no airbox, But it will also flow more air with the lid off and a precharger (outerwear)(since you already have the single clamp on). The little less airflow the prechargers gives you is, IMO, better than clogging up your K&N with dust and sand at glamis, and it will still flow more air than running it with the lid on. Definately run the prechargers and no lid for glamis. When I put my lid on my Banshee boggs horrible and I can't even hit the powerband, because Im jetted for no lid, I think its something like 3-4 jet sizes (Mikuni) difference. I dunno how much HP gain it will give you but it might just bring you up to mid 60's after you re-jet. Quote
94BansheeRider Posted December 14, 2003 Author Report Posted December 14, 2003 Justintoxicated: Thanks for the info. I will leave it as is for Glamis, and rejet when I get home with no lid. Is that Ray Liotta in your avatar? Quote
