Supposedly they’re good, but any way to tell how old they are or how to check if they need to be rebuilt? Thanks! 97Screamer Posted August 24, 2018 Report Share Posted August 24, 2018 Shocks should be rebuilt every season. 9/10 when you buy used shocks they are behind on service, even if they aren't leaking. I agree that if they aren't leaking you don't need to do seals and orings but the oil in there is a wear item that should be changed every year. To me that's like saying I haven't changed my trans oil in 20 years and the bike still runs fine. I'm no shock expert but 9/10 shocks I've serviced were far overdue on oil and most are low on nitrogen.
