So I got someone that says there willing to trade these works shocks for a bottom case and head I have lying around, and my stock shocks. Supposedly they’re good, but any way to tell how old they are or how to check if they need to be rebuilt? Thanks!a2bb9e41e050596e2261fc5b98738189.jpg

Shocks should be rebuilt every season. 9/10 when you buy used shocks they are behind on service, even if they aren't leaking. Seems like a fair deal for both of you but plan on having them serviced if you go through with the deal.

Rebuilt every season?!!??!

Come on, that's excessive. I have shocks that are 20 years old on some machines that haven't been touched, and that includes 14 year old air shocks that have never had a seal replaced.

Being Works is now out of business I'd stick with someone who is still in business. Sure places still have parts, but those are going to need some work. You'll need to put $3-400 into those. You can buy new Floats for close to that

I thought this was crazy, for the shocks on my truck.
Cost me 560$ before shipping, to rebuild 6 when one started leaking. I had now idea they recommend a 10,000 mile service.
Wonder what the service on Fox atv shocks is...

A matter of opinion I guess. I agree that if they aren't leaking you don't need to do seals and orings but the oil in there is a wear item that should be changed every year. To me that's like saying I haven't changed my trans oil in 20 years and the bike still runs fine. I'm no shock expert but 9/10 shocks I've serviced were far overdue on oil and most are low on nitrogen. Every manufacturer I'm aware of also recommends annual (or less) service.9a5820cc4dded261833139bddba76276.jpg46bdc7af75c7f2f08dbe9e8c145b0e25.jpg

So yay or nay? Would you guys make the deal? I just figured they might increase the price of my bike plus had those parts lying around anyway. They’ll also look better with my aarms. 97899ad40ef8bbf0eac72adfffd47e3f.jpg

Did you ever think maybe they do this as a financial opportunity?

You will not gain value, aftermarket parts don't add much to these things that are already worth little. And with stock arms you won't see much improvement

Like I said, buy new or save up money and buy a used setup from a reputable member

A bottom case and stock head are equal to paper weights in value.

Let’s just tell u what u want to hear.....

Trade them.

Then sell them use money towards new

I thought that a stock head with no pitting goes for around 100 and a bottom case 80. But you know more than I do.

Idk why everyone’s being so hostile. Eat a snickers. Just looking for some opinions on what others would do in the same situation. And now I know. Thanks

No hostility here...

That’s what I would do....

Thers a lot more people on here that allready gave you the knowledgeable advice....

Hell I don’t know what a stock head is worth....

I thought cases came in pairs....

35 for a stock head. 20 for a bottom case.
Maybe.
Those works are worthless

Just because it's for sale for that doesn't mean its selling for that
