Cylinder base gasket install?

Is it better to install the cylinder base gaskets dry or coat them with some high heat copper gasket spray.

It really depends on condition of mating surfaces and how anal you are cleaning. All thes engines are getting old and it's few n far between that you find one that someone didn't jig up with a screwdriver

If it's questionable use thin film of threebond 1211 after using scotchbrite to clean and ascetone to wipe down surfaces to remove oil n contaminants

So many variables. If anything looks questionable, just use a light film of three bond and make sure surfaces are as clean as possible.

Why not use some RTV black on it? Or ditch the base gasket entirely and use just the RTV. That's what I do. Gain some bottom end compression and make more power. Of course you shouldn't do this if your piston to head tolerance is low.. that could be bad lol

That's true, I put it on with my finger to keep it thin and scrape any splooges off with a tiny bondo scraper
