It really depends on condition of mating surfaces and how anal you are cleaning. All thes engines are getting old and it's few n far between that you find one that someone didn't jig up with a screwdriver

Why not use some RTV black on it? Or ditch the base gasket entirely and use just the RTV. That's what I do. Gain some bottom end compression and make more power. Of course you shouldn't do this if your piston to head tolerance is low.. that could be bad lol

if u get careless with sealer it spooges into the port runners


That's true, I put it on with my finger to keep it thin and scrape any splooges off with a tiny bondo scraper
