Hello everyone I am new to the forum so bare with me. I bought a new Banshee three weeks ago. The thing is pristine honestly looks like it came off the showroom floor. Starts first kick every time. I took it out riding and beat the hell out of it at the supercross track and it performed beautifully. Got it home and for shits and giggles I did a compression test. Both cylinders test at exactly 89 psi. That seems low to me but it does have stock heads stock Pistons and stock rings. Is it time for a rebuild? Or don't mess with a good thing and use her till she dies? She runs beautifully idles perfectly and doesn't smoke bad at all. Any input would be great. Thanks.

Probably an issue with the test gave the low numbers, but getting an equal pressure on both sides is a good sign.  I have a similar issue with my cheap compression tester.  TDR recommended a few specific models and the craftsman compression tester was one, its affordable, about $65.

I rented a tester from autozone

I did the same and got shit numbers

Get a quality tester

If you were running 89 psi you wouldnt be enjoying your bike as much as you are I can promise you that haha

Quality tester is the way to go :) Congrats on the new bike and welcome to the site!

Thank you gentlemen. I went back to banshee after running a ltz for many years. Just am a lover of two strokes. So since my bike is probably good to go my next idea is to get some Vito's cool heads and a oversized radiator and high performance water impeller. What are your guyses thoughts?

Go for a head that doesn't require stud removal / changing. Noss, chariot, or driveline....if your head hasn't been milled they can cut your stock head. Look into it.

I didnt see you mention your mods.

You def want a set of good pipes.

Edit: If you dont already have some

For a oversized radiator look on eBay. Going to be around 65-75 bucks. Price has gone up over the years. They work great and well worth the money. I got a couple for like 55 bucks a peice a few years ago with no issues to this day

Thank you blue that is what I will do then. I will get the radiator off eBay and all the supporting mods and do a complete rebuild in a year or two. Blue do you have a set of cool heads as well? Or do you think a high volume water pump and radiator are enough? I live in Michigan so it isn't like Arizona temperatures.

ebay radiator and aftermarket pump here as well. Works great. I didnt go with the fancy silicone hoses. I use the cheap black NAPA stuff out of principle. Radiator and pump should be enough when tuned properly and you keep moving.
