How to remove rust on axel

My question is just that. And good ideas on how to remove rust on my axel? Bought a shee to start building and the durablue has surface rust pretty bad. Not like thick flaky rust but pretty much covered.

Run that bitch on jack stands in 6th wfo and hold some 220 grit on it.

^ lol that'll work. A little safer way would be to use a wire brush that attaches to a drill

Firm wheel and emery cake compound. Run it on a corded high speed drill if it's still on the bike.

My durablue had a bit of rust too.  Must be garbage chrome.  I ended up powder coating mine.

If you ride trails, the chrome gets nicks from rocks and terrain. Those nicks are where rust forms and spreads from. Even the best of chrome wouldn't stand a chance. Maybe on a duner, but even that gets hazy.
