Okay sleeper, fair enough. I rechecked using that method this morning and my numbers did change. The left cylinder shows .044 on both side, the right cylinder shows .042 and .041

I guess the next question is, is there any allowable variance between the 2 cylinders or is 2-3 thousandths unacceptable. Not looking to cut a corner, trying to understand what is and isn't okay. I have no issue lapping the deck .002

Most people have that variance and never know if u wanna get that crazy I use a granite block , tape sand paper to it then figure 8 it to needs , u don't need much so go easy

The question is, should I? I'm worried about pulling the studs as far as I know they've never been out. Don't want to break one off

Use a stud extractor and be fucking careful. Luckily I've never had any issuie removing studs.

Is this any count? They have a store near me and it's in stock. For $20 I'll get it vs taking a chance

.002-.003 is nothing i would bother with. your method of measuring could be at fault for all we know but do as you wish. shouldnt need any heat for the studs. go to autozone and rent their extractor set like the one bennet posted. 5min later youll have them all out. now why were you removing the studs again ? oh ya to correct a .003 variance

I wouldnt worry about that small ammt either but to take studs out I usually tighten 2 nuts on the stud and then unscrew it

Now you need to figure out which dome and base gasket combo to run. How is the piston to exh port floor at bdc? Might as well get a degree wheel and learn how to check port durations as long as youve come this far.

So I got her back together, many texts between myself and Justin as I went and the numbers are finally where they need to be. Gained 10 pounds of compression, passed a leak down, got her back together and it not only starts and sounds better, it runs better. Pulls much harder in the higher gears. Major improvement
