twayne24365 Posted June 30, 2015 Report Posted June 30, 2015 With my new banshee needing a top end rebuild, when i took the cylinders off they were perfect, no scratches or nicks. So i took em to my friends shop and he gave them a lite hone. The bore measures 2.52" or 64.008mm, would a std piston work or do i need to have it bored. Thanks Quote
Larry's Shee Posted June 30, 2015 Report Posted June 30, 2015 Depends on what the pistons measure. Did he check it for out of round or taper? Quote
twayne24365 Posted June 30, 2015 Author Report Posted June 30, 2015 Yes he did and it was well within spec. So ill call and get a measurment on a std piston and make sure all is well before i go any further. Quote
Larry's Shee Posted June 30, 2015 Report Posted June 30, 2015 well, what does the pistons you have now measure? might just need rings. Quote
twayne24365 Posted June 30, 2015 Author Report Posted June 30, 2015 Its stock piston, measured A little under 64mm like 63.88 but ill check again tomorrow Quote
98_Shees2fast Posted June 30, 2015 Report Posted June 30, 2015 Too sloppy. What is a good clearance cuz i have some pistons id like to re ring also Quote
special06shee Posted June 30, 2015 Report Posted June 30, 2015 Depends on kind of piston. Cast? Forged? The manufacture will tell you what they call for. I wanna say its like .002 to .003. Dont quote me tho. Quote

special06shee Posted June 30, 2015 Report Posted June 30, 2015 Pretty sure a forged piston is .003-.005. Just double check to be for sure. Quote
98_Shees2fast Posted June 30, 2015 Report Posted June 30, 2015 Now is that from rings to cylinders or the ring gap by the oiler holes Quote
sleeper06 Posted June 30, 2015 Report Posted June 30, 2015 Put it this way if it was .005 cleRance I would leave it and ring it as soon as u go to put a scratch in it your friend took away material, it doesn't take much. Bore it your already past the threshold . Most stock bore Pistons measure under 64 but it doesn't hurt to check . I know the guy that does my boring has a master wiseco book that gives him measurements of pistons 1 Quote
98_Shees2fast Posted June 30, 2015 Report Posted June 30, 2015 If i check the gap from piston to cylinders and its .005 or less i can re ring them. Is that how i read it Quote
