RKJLOW Posted February 26, 2015 Report Posted February 26, 2015 whats the advantage to a billet intake vs stock rubber ones? whats the disadvantages? do they make the boots for aftermarket ones to fit stock carbs? Quote
trickedcarbine Posted February 26, 2015 Report Posted February 26, 2015 Billits put the carbs at a suitable angle to clear the clutch arm and they are just fancier lookin. UPP makes rubber boots that will replace stockers. That would be the way to go if you don't have bigger carbs? Quote
CrazyBRONCOguy Posted February 26, 2015 Report Posted February 26, 2015 Some of the intakes also have the cross over built into them. If you still want to run the cross over.. Not sure if anyone makes a rubber version that has the cross over built in or not Quote
trickedcarbine Posted February 26, 2015 Report Posted February 26, 2015 No need for it. There are even individual billits. None the less, if you're running rubber intakes they need to be upp and if you're running Billit, it should have genuine mikuni boots on it. 1 Quote

trickedcarbine Posted February 27, 2015 Report Posted February 27, 2015 If you can get new OEM, they are fine if you're only running stockers. Quote
jbooker82 Posted February 28, 2015 Report Posted February 28, 2015 upp? im still running stock carbs so no clearance issues there are they more durable than the stock rubber intakes? id imagine so.. UPP Racing. They make poly intakes instead of rubber ones. The poly material is tougher and more rigid. http://www.uppracing.com/item.php?cid=70&pid=256 Quote
registered user Posted February 28, 2015 Report Posted February 28, 2015 oem will last 10+ yrs before you have any problem with deterioration or cracking. theyre also cheaper than UPP and billits. nothing agaisnt UPP but if your sure you want to stay with stock carbs and dont need a bunch of bling then i would just pick up some new oem manifolds and call it a day Quote
Nightmare Posted February 28, 2015 Report Posted February 28, 2015 My oem intakes lasted about 4 years before they cracked. Quote
registered user Posted February 28, 2015 Report Posted February 28, 2015 that sucks bro. my '03 manifolds still look pretty good Quote
