banshee35027 Posted October 4, 2014 Report Posted October 4, 2014 I can ride at a moderate speed without going wide open throttle and it rides good. As soon as I hit it wide open I'll ride it wide open as far as I can or road will give. And I let go of the throttle and Boggs down? Then it won't crank back up. Gotta let it sit for like 5 min without touching it. Good compression new sparks. Good gas and ratio mix. Carbs are synced. Cleaned good to go Idk what it could be. Quote
banshee35027 Posted October 4, 2014 Author Report Posted October 4, 2014 I can rev it up as much as I want and stays on. Idles just fine. Quote
imbill Posted October 4, 2014 Report Posted October 4, 2014 Vent in gas cap plugged !!!!! Fuel filter dirty !!! Easy places to start !!! Quote
special06shee Posted October 4, 2014 Report Posted October 4, 2014 Float levels set correct? Might be sucking bowls dry Quote
banshee35027 Posted October 4, 2014 Author Report Posted October 4, 2014 Yep all that's good. Sounds like it's getting no spark. Quote
banshee35027 Posted October 4, 2014 Author Report Posted October 4, 2014 I stripped the bike to bare frame. Powder coated it. No mods to motor just covers. Put everything back together and that's when it started doing that. Before it ran fine. Other thing I can get was just cut the wires to tors. Quote

When you let of the throttle. Did you disconnect the switch? How about the black box under the tank? Quote
banshee35027 Posted October 4, 2014 Author Report Posted October 4, 2014 Yep all that was removed. Quote
trickedcarbine Posted October 4, 2014 Report Posted October 4, 2014 What's the full run down on the bike? You're sure the motor is not pretty well done for? Makes good compression, passes leak down, internals are not comin apart? If you say you think it's electrical, it could be related to the powder coat. Grounds need to be spic and span before connected. Ohm the stator, check the pick up gap, shake the flywheel and listen for rattles. Quote
Larry's Shee Posted October 4, 2014 Report Posted October 4, 2014 Run seperate ground from coil back to engine Quote
banshee35027 Posted October 4, 2014 Author Report Posted October 4, 2014 Could it be a bad piston? It has 130 compression. . Quote
trickedcarbine Posted October 5, 2014 Report Posted October 5, 2014 That's pretty good compression Quote
banshee35027 Posted October 5, 2014 Author Report Posted October 5, 2014 I mean if I had a bad ground it wouldn't even crank or at least not even ride without getting on it hard Quote
Larry's Shee Posted October 5, 2014 Report Posted October 5, 2014 In diagnosing a problem, you have to be willing to try ANYTHING/EVERYTHING double/triple check. There is actually a thread started by a "builder" about doing a ground wire. Do a google search. Quote
