KarTek Posted August 6, 2014 Report Posted August 6, 2014 Hey, I'm doing some work on the engine and I thought about upgrading the stock, potentially leaky reeds to something a little better. I see people selling VForce 2's used at a good price and I was wondering if it's a decent upgrade or should I just go for V4's. These will eventually go on a Serval 4 mil so I have to keep that in mind as well. Thanks! Quote
WINDYCITYJOHN400 Posted August 6, 2014 Report Posted August 6, 2014 Go with the V4's for your application. They like one size larger pilot than your currently running. Quote
sheerider11 Posted August 6, 2014 Report Posted August 6, 2014 If the vf2 have good pedals then yeah. But pedals are 110-120 alone to replace. Complete vf4 is 190-200. So depending on the price and condition of the 2, usually for a few more dollars the vf4 can be had. Unless there 50 bucks for both with fresh pedals. Quote
trickedcarbine Posted August 6, 2014 Report Posted August 6, 2014 Get the 4's. Like shee rider said, after buying the used set up and eventually new petals, you are spending more. Quote
KarTek Posted August 6, 2014 Author Report Posted August 6, 2014 OK, thanks a lot. I don't mind spending a little more up front for parts that are a better solution ultimately. Quote
Tedder Posted August 6, 2014 Report Posted August 6, 2014 We drag race and have track tested a number of different reeds over the years. In a full drag port 358, 392, 421 cub and a ported 4mil Serval V-2's always ET'd fastest on the asphalt but the 4's that we tried on the 4mil Serval was definitely the way to go in all but WOT applications. I love the 2's and have at least 6 sets plus a number of packages of new petals but IMO you should go with the V-4's. They'll be a nice upgrade now and will work really great later in the Serval.
