trickedcarbine Posted July 31, 2014 Report Posted July 31, 2014 That's not a bad tab to replace. It probably should be done in a thicker material the next go though. X2 on what dude said about the longer bolt. Quote
possum Posted August 1, 2014 Report Posted August 1, 2014 I wouldnt even play around trying to get in there to fix a crack. id just pull the motor, hack off that whole mount and get some prefabbed tabs and lay it out and mig it. argon co2 mix is fine. Quote
SOUTHTHIRTY Posted August 1, 2014 Report Posted August 1, 2014 A good mig guy could fix it in place...not the strongest fix...but lets talk about why it broke.... Is that bolt not the oem botl?....if it has slop in the hole in sure thats why it broke Quote

locogato11283 Posted August 1, 2014 Report Posted August 1, 2014 I wouldn't use stainless for anything other than plastic mounts. Quote
LaegerEliminator Posted August 1, 2014 Author Report Posted August 1, 2014 ^^^I have discovered that myself after building the bike and riding it. I'm am curious to see if the bolt is bent possibly when I pull the motor... I have been assuming that the crack is due to hard landings from big jumps, but I may be wrong. Starwriter Posted August 2, 2014 Report Posted August 2, 2014 It looks to me like the case is hitting the mount where it is bent inwards at the top. I'm thinking the vibration of the case banging against it is what cracked it. Quote
LaegerEliminator Posted August 4, 2014 Author Report Posted August 4, 2014 Regardless of the method, be sure to remove the cdi before you weld on the frame.Good idea. Hadn't thought about that. Sent from my DROID RAZR using Tapatalk Quote
LaegerEliminator Posted August 4, 2014 Author Report Posted August 4, 2014 That will likely crack again, even if done properly. I would cut off both mounts and have new ones made and then welded on. How thick are those tabs? Sent from my DROID RAZR using Tapatalk Quote
LaegerEliminator Posted August 4, 2014 Author Report Posted August 4, 2014 Looks like the kicker side rubber coated washer is worn out. The bushings feel tight still. The bolt is not bent. I cannot see any sign of the case directly hitting or rubbing the mount, just wear from the washer. Sent from my DROID RAZR using Tapatalk Quote
sprinklerman Posted August 4, 2014 Report Posted August 4, 2014 I see the problem. The evil cat sabotaged it. Plain as day. 1 Quote
trickedcarbine Posted August 4, 2014 Report Posted August 4, 2014 Double those bushings up front and rear when you put it back together. Quote
