turbowrenchhead Posted May 6, 2014 Report Posted May 6, 2014 So I've determined that my cdi is no good. A new one is over $400 from the dealer. Ouch! There are a ton of aftermarket ones available for under $200. Are any of them any good? If I had the funds I would just order a new one up but I don't. Quote
jbooker82 Posted May 6, 2014 Report Posted May 6, 2014 Not really. The only aftermarket one I would some what trust is a Dyna Digital. All the other "Rev" boxes are just relabled ProCom junk. Quote
2004LEBanshee Posted May 6, 2014 Report Posted May 6, 2014 Get a used stocker. Thw cheaper aftermarket ones advance your timiming a bit to gain the extra power they claim. However if you call them and ask how much they advance the give you a couple degree range. The hell with that. Quote
jbooker82 Posted May 6, 2014 Report Posted May 6, 2014 Then I would look for a good used one. I wouldn't rely on a ProCom, but then again I don't like riding trips ruined because of cutting corners on cheap junk. Quote
turbowrenchhead Posted May 6, 2014 Author Report Posted May 6, 2014 i have a few stockers from running bikes, 1987-1994? Quote
turbowrenchhead Posted May 6, 2014 Author Report Posted May 6, 2014 I found new NOS OEM for $185 Quote
5150banshee Posted May 6, 2014 Report Posted May 6, 2014 I may have one I'll check when I get home.... U can always have Cory change the plug on ur harness also or the plug on the Cdi Sent using Iphone5 onTapatalk Quote
turbowrenchhead Posted May 6, 2014 Author Report Posted May 6, 2014 I would rather have the connectors the same with out swapping to the newer style. When you cut and patch wires it never seems to last. If anything I'll just buy the NOS OEM one I found. I've already spent over $750 this spring on repairs/upgrades, whats another $200 right. Quote
sstaton1983 Posted May 6, 2014 Report Posted May 6, 2014 Proper wire repair go's along way....if you twist wires together and throw some tape on, your right, it won't be worth a shit. Quote
turbowrenchhead Posted May 6, 2014 Author Report Posted May 6, 2014 I ordered a new oem cdi. No wire cutting needed. Quote
