southside Posted December 21, 2013 Report Posted December 21, 2013 On higher powered drag/dune bikes with modded frames (lightened oem) who's eliminated the lower engine stay (two links under motor) and who's running them and results of each setup. Thanks in advance for the info Quote
Finch Posted December 21, 2013 Report Posted December 21, 2013 im not running them but really the more power you should have them keeps engine from twisting. Quote
joshb Posted December 21, 2013 Report Posted December 21, 2013 On a drag bike I'd definitely run them. Don't want that motor twisting. With them and the "washers" between the motor mounts it'll keep it tight with little to no movement. Quote

Our 18DMs were twisting in the frames under a load. That's why I designed the motor support. Quote

locogato11283 Posted December 21, 2013 Report Posted December 21, 2013 But what about big motors? You have to weld them to the frame or they will shoot out the side under load. Quote

possum Posted December 21, 2013 Report Posted December 21, 2013 Didnt know people left these mounts off. To each their own. Quote
RadarRacing Posted December 21, 2013 Report Posted December 21, 2013 I had problems big time without them. I broke a chain without them and had popping under a good load with rippers. If you have a hillshooter running 10 paddles you can get away with it but much more than that and you will be poppin the chain. I would run them. Quote
Finch Posted December 21, 2013 Report Posted December 21, 2013 ive been lucky so far. but motor doesnt see much twisting in the trailer. Quote
J-Madd Posted December 22, 2013 Report Posted December 22, 2013 You can get by with running 1 on PTO side only on smaller motors. Quote
WINDYCITYJOHN400 Posted December 22, 2013 Report Posted December 22, 2013 For what they weight……why eliminate them? That's putting WAY too much interest in lightening a machine. Quote
J-Madd Posted December 22, 2013 Report Posted December 22, 2013 I had a few chassis that didn't have mounts for them. I'm sure weight loss can best be found somewhere else. Quote
