Piediddy Posted November 17, 2013 Report Posted November 17, 2013 Guys bike runs fine for about 10 minutes till engines gets warmed up. Stock motor good compression, stock carbs jetted to fmf specs, +4 timing, fmfs, and K&N pod filters. Kinda feels electrical to me. What y'all think? Any help is appreciated. Quote
Finch Posted November 17, 2013 Report Posted November 17, 2013 "jetted to fmfs specs" have ya looked at the plugs to make sure its not to rich or lean? Quote
RagunCajun Posted November 17, 2013 Report Posted November 17, 2013 pick up gap on the stator(check with a feeler gauge) or float level may be the issue. Quote
Piediddy Posted November 17, 2013 Author Report Posted November 17, 2013 I'm already down from a 260 main to a 240. Pilots are 30 should I try 27.5? Plug does look a little rich. I do need to check pick up gap. I got the bike from a buddy of mine and it sat for a while. After it cools bike runs fine again for about 10 or 15 minutes till it warms up again. Quote
Sandking Posted November 17, 2013 Report Posted November 17, 2013 Double check your electrical ground. A lose ground caused these symptoms on one of my bikes Quote
Infamous039 Posted November 17, 2013 Report Posted November 17, 2013 More than likely electrical issue maybe cdi box or coil Sent from my SPH-L720 using Tapatalk Quote
joey83 Posted November 18, 2013 Report Posted November 18, 2013 Cdi? Mine did that last summer. After it got warm woukd sputter and even die. It was the cdi Quote
7211 Posted November 23, 2013 Report Posted November 23, 2013 could be cdi or bad stator my buddys 485 did the same thing an it was the stator if you let it sit for 15 min would run fine for a min or less untill it warmed up then would act like it was loaded up agin Quote
dirtydownunder Posted November 23, 2013 Report Posted November 23, 2013 could be plug caps or wires. ohm the plug caps. Quote
hoppedupandcutdown Posted November 23, 2013 Report Posted November 23, 2013 I've also had just old spark plugs do that. Quote
dave5.0 Posted November 23, 2013 Report Posted November 23, 2013 Fix the electrical issue if that's it, then recheck your plugs. Jetting sounds lean with pods. Depends where you are too I guess. Quote
Piediddy Posted November 30, 2013 Author Report Posted November 30, 2013 I finally got a chance to work on the bike. I put one of those inline coil tester in place between plug and coil wire. Sitting on bike the left side cut out so bad the inline tester wasn't even lit up, also I noticed the left pipe wasn't half as hot as the right side? Quote
