Hey guys (and gals).

I am new to 2 strokes, but not to riding. I've wanted a Banshee since I was 14. My wife bought me an '02 about a week ago. It's virtually stock with a set of T5's and jetting. I immediately started researching different mods. The first thing I did was order the TORS eliminators. It seems to run pretty decent on the street. Getting ready for this season. Most of the riding we do is open desert, some trail, and occasional glamis day trips.

I'm looking to see what all I should look for to see what I may need to prep for the season. The plugs look a little dark, so I picked up a set and installed. It starts on the third kick. Smokes above average when cold, but cleans out.

Any thoughts would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks,

Kevin

Welcome! Do some searching around the site there is a lot of good information here and if you have thin skin watch your words...the question you asked would get about 300 different answers depending on who you talk too...sounds like you have a good start mod wise for what kind of riding you do...check compression first and see where your at....if your low then look into a top end rebuild and go from there..

As far as that motor as is with out tearing it down and going nuts. (save that for when it needs a rebuild) I would start with completely new fluids, fresh clutch, new plugs, new plug caps, your new TORS kit, carb tear down and cleanup, sync carbs, check all connections and use dialectric grease, add a ground strap, gap the pick up coil correctly, compression test,(so you can moniter wear)and lastly a leak down.

Address the chassis as well. Grease everything, and if it doesn't have a Zerk, pull it apart and grease it. Adjust and lube the chain, check the axle lock nut, hub nuts, any wonky bearings, bleed the brakes, check the pads, adjust the levers and cables, check all cotter pins, check tie rods and steering components, make sure shocks are sound, be sure the radiator is clean and free of debris, grips are not loosely flopping or turning.

Once you know it runs reliable give it some bolt on goodies

If you last longer than a few months on this site then that's when you know your skin is not thin.
